*To the Ikhambi Lomphefumulo Community,*

Dear esteemed members,

It has been some time since our last update, and I would like to address you directly: please be assured that you have not been forgotten. Your presence, messages, and continued engagement with this initiative have been duly noted and highly valued.

The pause was intentional — a period of strategic reflection and preparation. We are now resuming our efforts with renewed focus, and several programs are forthcoming.

From this point forward, the content will be more direct, intentional, and urgent. Our purpose remains unchanged: to resonate with your inner selves, provide clarity, and foster healing.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. The next phase commences now.

Ikhamɓi Lomphefumulo: Breathing Life into Poetry and Culture in the Greater Harrismith

By Michael Tamelinth (Free State World)

As the founder and chairperson of Ikhamɓi Lomphefumulo, Thami Irvin Moloi from Harrismith in the Free State has dedicated his life to nurturing poetry, arts, and culture among the local community in the Greater Harrismith. Under his leadership, Ikhamɓi Lomphefumulo has become a beacon of inspiration for young talents, igniting a cultural movement that resonates with the rhythms of the Free State.

The organization has evolved into a vibrant hub of creativity, where poets, musicians, dancers, and artists come together to share their stories, showcase their talents, and contribute to the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Thami’s vision for Ikhamɓi Lomphefumulo was born out of a desire to create a platform for young artists to express themselves and showcase their talents. With this goal in mind, he established the organization, which has since grown into a thriving community. “We’ve created a safe space where young people can come to explore their creativity, develop their skills, and build their confidence,” he shared.

Through Ikhamɓi Lomphefumulo, Thami has created numerous opportunities for young people to engage with the arts. The annual “Ikhamɓi Lomphefumulo Poetry Competition,” started by Thami, is a highlight of the cultural calendar, blending poetry with traditional Maskandi arts and youth dramas. This competition provides a valuable platform for young poets to showcase their work, share their stories, and connect with like-minded individuals.

“One of my proudest achievements with Ikhamɓi Lomphefumulo was the launch of the Online Poetry Competition on Human Rights Day, which expanded our reach and inspired participants to express their rights and aspirations through verse,” Thami reflected.

The competition received an overwhelming response, with talented poets from across the region submitting their work, showcasing the depth and quality of creativity in the community.

Ikhamɓi Lomphefumulo’s initiatives are a testament to the power of art and poetry to empower youth and unite communities.

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for Ikhamɓi Lomphefumulo. We welcome support through donations, volunteering, or partnerships. Together, we can continue to breathe life into poetry and culture, inspiring young artists to shine,” Thami concluded.

*Statement from to All Followers*

Greetings, family of words.

_Isiziba Samagama_ — “The Pool of Words” — arrives on Freedom Day, 27 April. And we’re stepping into this pool together.

This isn’t just a book. This is _ — medicine for the soul. It was written for the days you feel silenced, for the nights you carry pain no one else sees, and for the mornings you decide to rise again anyway.

Inside are 13 poems drawn from our real lives:
- _Ngaze Ngakuthanda_ speaks on love that still finds us
- _Ongazi Ke Ngiyi… Ngiyintandane_ holds space for orphans and the ones raising themselves
- _Siphe Amandla Okulwa Mdali_ is a prayer for strength against poverty
- _Impilo Kasigebengu_ is a warning about the cost of crime
- _Bhadlabhadla Matshezulu_ honors the mothers who carry us
- _Vuka Mzukulu Uye ESkoleni_ tells our youth: stay in school, your pen is power

And _Indlela Yokubhala Inkondlo_ gives you the tools to turn your own story into poetry.

We chose Freedom Day for a reason. Freedom means having a voice. It means naming our pain without shame, and celebrating our joy without asking for permission.

If you feel like you have no voice — read this book.
If you feel like you’re not being heard — speak like a poem.
If you feel like you’re not living — start here.

The full PDF of _Isiziba Samagama_ will be free on 27 April. Because healing shouldn’t have a price.

Thank you for walking with me from Makgolokweng to every corner of the Free State. From Bloemfontein to QwaQwa, Welkom to Sasolburg, and across Greater Harrismith — this pool belongs to all of us.

Gather. Heal. Live.
Let the words be our medicine.
