Clearing Storm Drain in Bergweg

Overgrown grass and bushes
Refuse in drain
A leaking pipe

This has all contributed to the area underneath the bridge looking like it did in image one

The HIT has cleared the sides of the road and removed the refuse from the drain.

The HIT team has repaired some major potholes in Piet Retief Street on the route to the primary school.

Years of neglect cleared

Storm drains that are not maintained, are causing harm.
Water cannot effectively drain from roads, causing structural damage to the road surface.

This specific storm drain is a visual representation of neglect.

As the rainy season is here, more blocked storm drains will appear.

We urge residents not to throw litter in gutters.
They end up blocking the drains

Storm drain clearing continued

The HIT team also cleared the overgrowing grass from the road.

The once hidden drain is now visible again

Clearing gutters and storm drains for the rainy weather.

Sometimes the teams find interesting items that are causing the problem.

We ask that residents clear the gutters in front of their own premises.
