๐พ๐ The 2026 NAMPO Harvest Day 2026 once again demonstrated why South Africa remains one of Africaโs leading agricultural nations and a major contributor to continental food security.
The Kwalata Community Development Initiative (KCDI) was proud to be part of the Hammanskraal community delegation led by Dr Elizabeth Mokotong together with Dinokeng Game Reserve Community Liaison Officer John Mabotja. The delegation arrived ready and eager to learn from one of Africaโs greatest agricultural showcases. ๐๐ฟ๐ฆ
NAMPO 2026 highlighted groundbreaking achievements in modern farming technology, water management, climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy solutions, livestock genetics, mechanisation, and sustainable farming systems all aimed at strengthening food production and ensuring long-term food security for South Africa and the African continent. The event showcased how innovation, partnerships, and knowledge-sharing can help feed growing populations while protecting natural resources for future generations. ๐ฑ๐
What made the experience especially inspiring was the strong involvement of the younger generation delegates, many already actively engaged in agroecology initiatives including honey production, tree planting, vegetable production, and environmental sustainability projects within their communities. ๐ณ๐ฏ๐ฅฌ Through the guidance and mentorship of community leaders and development partners, these young delegates have already had exposure to global conferences and international platforms, helping shape a generation of environmentally conscious leaders who understand the importance of food security, conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
For the Hammanskraal and Dinokeng communities, the visit created valuable opportunities to learn about agricultural entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, skills development, and community upliftment initiatives that can contribute towards local economic growth and job creation.
The lessons, inspiration, and connections gained at NAMPO 2026 will continue to strengthen local initiatives linked to conservation, tourism, education, agroecology, and rural empowerment. Together we are building stronger, greener, and more resilient communities for the future of South Africa and Africa. ๐โจ
