Mpheteng Mokubung, Project Manager, Outlook Foundation

Meet Mpheteng , a qualified Mechanical Engineer who currently works as the Chief Operations Officer at Midvaal Water Company in Stilfontein, North West. Mpheteng holds an MBA from North West University and a BSc in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering). In addition, he graduated with Post Graduate Diploma in Science - Nuclear Science and Engineering from Wits University, Programme in Practical Project Management from UNISA and Post Graduate Diploma in Futures Studies from Stellenbosch University.

As a project manager, Mpheteng contributes to the Annual Project Plan, which is used for role modeling campaigns in collaboration with other entities such as SAASTA or other Non-Profit Organizations (NPO). He identifies schools and verifies the number of learners, organizes role models for the campaign, arranges logistics for the event, and compiles reports for the campaigns undertaken. Additionally, he serves as a Role Model in these campaigns by sharing his life story from the perspective of career choice, hurdles along the journey, and how he dealt with the challenges.

Mpheteng believes in giving back to communities (and beyond) that assisted in making him who he is today. He volunteers his time and other resources to give back because he grew up with limited Role Models in his time, making it difficult to choose careers, especially in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Innovation (STEMI) context. He has seen the impact realized, especially for communities that can relate to him, such as those from the same high school, similar background, and environment.

Segomotso Kelefetswe, Founder, Outlook Foundation

Segomotso is a Civil Engineer and a member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineers as well as the South African Council on Large Dams. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Engineering at Wits University in 2002, and Masters of Engineering in Engineering Management at the University of Pretoria in 2020. Also completed Construction Management Programme (CMP) at Stellenbosch University.

Segomotso is passionate about youth development. “I started this organisation to give every learner access to resources and opportunities in the STEM fields. I want to reach all schools that have limited resources to educate and enrich learners of the career opportunities in choosing Mathematics and Science in school,” says Segomotso.

Segomotso is also involved in mentoring many young professionals, especially in the engineering field, through the Outlook Foundation mentorship programmes. “I believe in positively impacting all learners with the knowledge and reaching even that one learner that is not “reachable”, he concludes.
