🌱 STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT | MENTAL HEALTH & COMMUNITY WELL-BEING – VERENA

Today, we had a meaningful stakeholder engagement in Verena, creating an opportunity to connect with the community, understand their experiences, and learn more about the challenges faced by young people, particularly around mental health and emotional well-being. πŸ’š

These engagements remind us of the importance of listening to our communities and working together to ensure that young people have access to the right support, information and safe spaces.

We were also excited to introduce our new collaborative partner, Indalo, who will be contributing to conversations and initiatives around climate change, environmental impact and Just Energy Transition (JET). 🌍🌱

Together, we are building stronger partnerships that connect mental health, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability and community development.

🌟 CHOMMY SESSION | MAFATO PRIMARY SCHOOL 🌟

Today, we had an impactful CHOMMY session with the Grade 7 learners at Mafato Primary School. πŸ’™

The session created a safe and engaging space for learners to learn, share their experiences, ask questions, and build positive life skills as they navigate this important stage of growing up.

We believe in empowering young people with knowledge, confidence and the right support to make positive choices. 🌱✨

Thank you to the school management and educators for welcoming us and supporting our work with learners.

Our facilitators at Mokgotshi Primary School in Kutupu Village, implementing the CHOMMY Programme together with our dedicated area social workers.

The session provides a safe and supportive space for learners to build life skills, understand their emotions, develop positive relationships and make informed choices.

We appreciate the continued partnership with the school and our social workers as we work together to empower children, strengthen families and build resilient communities.

24 August 2026: Women Empowerment Session

An inspiring Women Empowerment Session bringing together delegates from SAPS, VEP, CPF and Broadway Legacy Foundation.

It was a meaningful space to pause, reflect, meditate and empower one another. We had honest conversations about becoming the best version of ourselves, serving our communities with integrity and purpose, and understanding the important role we each play in creating positive change.

We also explored skills development, personal growth and career pathways, encouraging women to recognise their strengths, develop their skills and pursue opportunities that can transform their lives and communities.

When women come together, we learn from one another, lift each other up and grow stronger together. πŸ’œβœ¨

Thank you SAPS Social Crime Prevention, Broadway team and FoodForward SA for the snacks from WOOLWORTHS for our delegates. Thuthuzela Mr Mabirimisa for always availing yourself to encourage our colleagues, stakeholders and community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Queen Mother Thandi Mohlamonyane for the beautiful décor that added elegance, warmth and beauty to our special occasion. 🌸✨

Thank you for your creativity, dedication and wonderful contribution. Your beautiful work truly made the event even more memorable. πŸ‘‘πŸ’

The teenage years can be confusing for teens and for the adults who care for them. Being present matters more than being perfect.

Supporting Teen Identity Development: A Guide for Adults offers practical guidance to help parents, caregivers, teachers, coaches and youth workers listen without judgement, support healthy independence, recognise mental health concerns and help teenagers build a strong sense of identity, belonging and self-worth.

We are pleased to share this practical new resource developed by MIET AFRICA with contributions from and the Hold My Hand Accelerator Team.

Download the guide and share it with the adults supporting teenagers in your community: https://www.holdmyhand.org.za/publications -publications

24 August 2026: Young Women Dialogue

Today, we had the privilege of participating in the Young Women Dialogue in Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality bringing together various stakeholders to engage on issues affecting young women and explore ways to strengthen support within our communities.

A special thank you to Mmathapelo for being part of this important session and for gathering valuable information that will help us better understand the needs of women and strengthen the support we provide in our communities.

Together, we listen, learn, empower and create safer, stronger communities for women and girls.
