As Heritage Month comes to an end, we celebrate the cultures, traditions and stories that make South Africa what it is. Our heritage lives in the languages we speak, the traditions we carry, the music we share and the communities we build. Every year, the Cape Town Carnival brings many of these stories to the streets, turning our diversity into something we can all see, hear and celebrate.

What happens when a city stops watching… and starts becoming part of the story? ❤️‍🔥

This is why we do it. This is what Carnival is all about.

It’s in the faces in the crowd. The families, friends, performers and communities who show up and make the streets their own.

It’s the stories we carry, the cultures we celebrate, the energy we share and that feeling when thousands of people come together and become part of something bigger.

This is Carnival✨

Who’s ready for 20th March 2027?

24/09/2026

At Cape Town Carnival, we celebrate more than where we come from, we celebrate who we are together. 🇿🇦✨ Many faces. Many cultures. Many Colours. One people. Today, we honour the heritage that shapes us, the diversity that makes us unique, and the shared sense of belonging that brings us together.

Happy Heritage Day, South Africa. 💙

What nobody tells you about Cape Town Carnival? ✨

The magic you see on the streets is only one part of the story.

Behind every costume, float, performance and unforgettable moment are people learning, creating, building and growing. Carnival creates opportunities for artists, makers, performers and production teams, while bringing together communities from across Cape Town many of whom have been part of this story for generations.

And when the parade ends, the creativity doesn’t. Our costumes, puppets, floats and artworks continue to live on through events, film shoots, festivals, sporting events and experiences across the city.

Because Cape Town Carnival isn’t just one spectacular night.

It’s people. It’s opportunity. It’s community. It’s creativity that lives on. 💗
