UPDATE
We unfortunately lost the pup last night but after post-mortem, vet cleared him for parvo. It was an infection of worms which ruptured his intestines. All other pups cleared. Mom needs lots of good food and love.

Dear donors and supporters,

This past Saturday, we carried out a rescue in the township that truly touched our hearts. We found a mom dog struggling to survive, caring for her seven tiny puppies and one older pup all on her own.

Mom is in a heartbreaking condition. She is very weak, suffering from a painful urinary tract infection and a severe eye infection that clearly needs urgent medical attention. Despite her suffering, she has been doing everything she can to protect and care for her babies.

We urgently need to take her to the vet, which is 35 km away, but right now we simply do not have the funds for fuel to get her there. In addition, caring for such a large little family means ongoing costs for food, medication, and basic care.

We are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for your help.
Please consider making a donation, no matter how small, so that we can give this brave mom and her puppies the care, treatment, and chance at life that they so desperately deserve.

Due to the fireworks one of our dogs went into shock and we suspect a mild heart attack. He was inside the house and just dropped and went limp. Heart rate was dropping fast so I started cpr and managed to get the heart beating normally. He could not even lift his head, we thought we were going to lose him. After struggling for over an hour, he stabilised and started responding to us.
I hope the people that set off the fireworks burn in hell! This is so unnecessary! Luckily it didn’t last too long as it started raining heavily, thank God. Now we are on night watch for the rest of the night.

Dear Donors and Supporters,

As Christmas approaches, we find ourselves reaching out with a heartfelt wish and a hopeful spirit.

Our greatest need this season is for a kind individual or company to sponsor the fencing and labour for our new site, where the GAIN shelter will soon be relocating. To safely secure the property, we require 50 x 30 meters of dog-proof fencing, at least 1.8 meters high. Until the land is fully enclosed, we are unable to begin any construction or move forward with building safe spaces for our animals.

Over the past 48 hours alone, we have experienced more than 200mm of rain, and our current drainage systems simply cannot cope with this volume. The new site offers a fresh start, with ample space, better conditions, and the opportunity to care for our animals more safely, as well as respond to future rescue needs.

At this moment, our shelter is completely full, and it breaks our hearts that we cannot take in more animals until we are able to secure and prepare the new property.

If you are able to help, or know someone who might be willing to sponsor this fencing and labour, please reach out and help us make this Christmas wish come true. Your support would mean the world to us and to the many animals who rely on GAIN for safety and care.

Dear kind supporters and friends,

I come to you today with a heavy heart. These past few months have been incredibly difficult as every cent we have managed to raise has gone straight into the dream of building our new shelter. While this is so important, it has sadly left us with almost no resources for the daily needs of our dogs.

Right now, we are down to just 80kg of poor-quality food, which is nowhere near enough. We have 21 shelter dogs depending on us every single day, and beyond them, countless others in the informal settlements and townships who look to us as their only chance at a meal.

I am humbly and desperately asking—please, if you are able, help us with dog food, especially pellets. Even the smallest donation will make a huge difference. We do not often beg, but when we do, it is because we have reached a point of true desperation.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for any help you can give.
We also have to pay our vehicle license which is nearly R900.

We receive over 10 000 views on this post but very few donations towards the new shelter. Please donate even if it’s just R50 towards this project. We are in need of bigger, better premises for the animals, we are unable to rescue at the moment due to space.
