GRASKOP HERITAGE CARNIVAL – SUPPORT GAIN

Hi everyone,

On 5 September 2026, the Graskop Heritage Carnival will be taking place here in our beautiful town, and GAIN (Graskop Animals In Need) is excited to be part of this special community event!

GAIN has committed to having two stalls at the carnival:

Food Stall – We will be selling delicious Prego rolls and curry & rice.
GAIN Stall – We will have pet treats, toys and other goodies, as well as fun carnival games for the children.

But before we can make this happen, we need your help.

We are looking for donations to help us purchase the ingredients and supplies needed for our food stall. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference.

GAIN is a non-profit organisation that relies completely on the generosity of our community and supporters. Every cent raised at the carnival will go directly towards caring for the animals in our care and helping animals in need.

If you are able to contribute towards our carnival expenses, we would be incredibly grateful. Your support doesn’t just help us run a stall — it helps us continue saving, feeding and caring for animals who have nobody else.

Hi everyone

An update on our beautiful Honey…

A few months ago, we rescued Honey together with her seven tiny puppies and one older pup. Thanks to the kindness of so many wonderful people, every single puppy has found a loving home.

Honey’s journey, however, has been much harder.

When she came to us, she was severely underweight, so we had to wait until she was strong enough before she could be sterilised. Honey also has permanent damage to her sphincter muscle, which means she has no control over her bowels. She constantly soils herself, but that doesn’t change how much she deserves love, dignity, and a comfortable life.

Her tail had also been badly broken and the tissue had died. Today, Honey underwent a major operation to be sterilised and have her tail amputated. During surgery, the vet discovered that her uterus was in a terrible state and was essentially rotten. She lost a lot of blood and endured a long and difficult operation.

Our brave girl has been through so much.

For the next few weeks, Honey will have to wear nappies to keep her tail stump clean and prevent infection while it heals. Once she has recovered, she will remain with us permanently. Sadly, because of her medical condition, she is not adoptable, but she will never have to worry about being unwanted again. She has found her forever home with us.

Despite everything she has endured, Honey is finally beginning to thrive. Since her rescue, she has gained an incredible 6 kg, and seeing her become stronger has been one of the greatest rewards.

We are now faced with the cost of her surgery, ongoing veterinary care, and the nappies and supplies she will need for the rest of her life. We have not yet received the final vet account, but we know it will be substantial.

Mandela Day Donations

Today we were blessed with a wonderful visit from some of the staff of York Timbers, Sabie, who celebrated Mandela Day by donating much-needed dog food, cat food, and blankets to GAIN.

Acts of kindness like these make a real difference to the lives of the animals in our care. Every bag of food, every blanket, and every act of generosity helps us continue providing love, warmth, and care to those who need it most.

From all of us at GAIN—and especially from our furry residents—thank you for caring.

Our dumped pups already looking so much better. Still a long road ahead for these babies but now they safe.
