Food4Futures offers grateful thanks to everyone who participated in the Mandela Day Giving. We are privileged to have of witnessed the joy shown by those receiving a welcome gift.
We received so many donations given in the spirit of caring-for-community, and in an on-going stream of friendship and provision... from warm, cuddly blankets to nourishing Jars of Joy and delicious sandwiches complete with notes of love attached...
We thank you all for the blankets we received, in total 386 of them, which were all distributed on 21 July along with hundreds of packs of sandwiches, some made by our Monday Sandwich Making Volunteers, and more made by St Andrews College and by scholars at Graeme College and VG High School.
We were delighted to visit and collect from schools, Jars of Joy made with love and care by the children at Kingswood Pre-Primary and St Andrews Prep, and sandwiches made and delivered to us by DSG girls from the senior and junior schools.
We were pleased to have conversations with many of them about the activities at Food4Futures, resulting in a desire to help again to “make a difference”
We are grateful to Grahamstown Properties for their wonderful support in gathering up 210 of the blankets, and to others who brought blanket to us, many of them beautifully knitted as gifts for the occasion.
So.. it was a very special Mandela Day outpouring of generosity, and as is often the case, we realise what a kind community we live in.
I may, inadvertently, have forgotten to mention someone specifically, and I apologise if I have. The week of Mandela Day was a blur of activity and I could have slipped up ... but please know that we do thank you, ONE AND ALL!

What a blessed day! 🙌 We successfully distributed food parcels, Jars of Joy, and clothes to families in need. The joy and gratitude from everyone who received was heartwarming.

Join us this Friday, 29 May at Pick n Pay ( Pepper Grove Mall )from 9:30 to 14:30! We're selling P4P vouchers to support our community initiatives, especially helping car guards.
Plus, we're collecting donations for our Jars of Joy (rice, pasta, lentils, soup, stock cubes) and blankets for our Blanket Drive. Come support Food4Futures and our amazing volunteers!
