Dear Community
Therapy dolls are incredibly effective at assisting dementia sufferers, both to sooth anxiety and to help them communicate with the world. We are looking for realistic dolls for our dementia care wing. If you have old dolls in your house that you no longer need, please consider donating them to Brookshaw?
Realistic dog and cat toys can also help in the same way.

In the early hours of Monday morning the electricity cables outside Brookshaw Home in Donkin Street were cut by cable thieves. Unfortunately, due to the protest action in town the Electricity department has been unable to assist us with repairs to date. We have had no electricity since Monday morning. Brookshaw is in a critical state, but due to the awesome teamwork and care of all our staff, we are weathering the storm. Please note that our normal phone line is down, but you can still contact us on 064-974 1920 at any time.

Marius Crouse, was a kind, caring, true gentleman. As our BRC chairperson, despite his high workload, Marius was always willing to pop over and assist us where he could, and just at the end of November he manned the food ticket table for our annual fete. A few days before he passed, he was in the office helping to solve a problem with a ready smile and lots of good ideas. We miss you, Marius. Your presence is still felt here.
