Earlier this week, our team at Woolf's Trophies & Engravers spent our 67 minutes giving back at Ubuntu House as part of our Nelson Mandela Day community initiative.
Ubuntu House is a local baby home that provides a safe, loving environment for abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable babies while they wait to be reunited with family or placed in permanent care.
To say this visit changed us would be an understatement.
We arrived expecting to give our time, but we left with our hearts completely full. Every child found a way into our hearts. We laughed, played, fed bottles, cuddled babies, and spent precious moments simply showing them the love and attention that every child deserves.
Those 67 minutes reminded us that Mandela Day is about so much more than giving. It is about restoring dignity, showing compassion, and making a meaningful difference, no matter how small the act may seem.
One of the most touching moments came afterwards, when some of our staff shared that they went home and hugged their own children a little tighter, reminding them how deeply they are loved. It was a powerful reminder to never take family, love and belonging for granted.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the incredible team at Ubuntu House for welcoming us and for the extraordinary work they do every single day. Their dedication gives vulnerable babies a safe start in life and offers hope when it is needed most.
This visit is only the beginning.
