On this significant Youth Day, the CATCH Boys Group, made up of young men aged 15β21, visited our local community school - Mzamomwethu Public School - to take part in a clean-up campaign and give back to our community.
As we commemorate June 16, we remember that freedom was not free. Many innocent people lost their lives, while others were imprisoned for standing up and fighting for the rights and dignity of future generations. We honour their sacrifices through positive action and community service.
Today, the CATCH Powerboys are helping to keep our streets and roads clean by collecting litter and promoting environmental responsibility. This initiative forms part of our commitment to combating water pollution, as rubbish and waste often block drainage systems and contribute to flooding and unsanitary conditions.
Sewage runoff affecting areas around the school and clinic continues to have a negative impact on essential services and public health. Children are often exposed to contaminated water, putting them at risk of illness. By working together to keep our environment clean, we can help create a healthier and safer community for everyone.
Happy Youth Day! Together, we can make a difference.
