STRENGTHENING YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN THE ECONOMY: MY SIP VISIT TO LEDA GIYANI

On Friday, 06 February 2026, the South African Youth Council (SAYC) - Mopani Region visited the Limpopo Economic Development Agency (LEDA) Giyani Office as part of our ongoing Mopani Youth Services Inspection Programme (MY SIP).

We held a productive engagement with the LEDA Giyani Regional Manager, Mr. Mihlolo Maswanganyi, who delivered a detailed presentation on the agency's work within the Greater Giyani area.

We explored possible areas of strategic cooperation between SAYC Mopani and LEDA Giyani to benefit young people in the region.

While the initial engagement was positive, we look forward to a follow-up visit. During the next engagement, our focus will shift to a thorough inspection of statistics, specifically regarding youth inclusion in LEDA’s programs and opportunities.

We remain committed to ensuring that youth economic empowerment is backed by tangible numbers and real opportunities.

[IN PICTURES]: SAYC MOPANI ON THE GROUND: MY SIP VISIT TO NTHABISENG SPECIAL SCHOOL

On Thursday, 05 February 2025, the South African Youth Council (SAYC) - Mopani Region visited Nthabiseng Special School. This visit formed part of our ongoing Mopani Youth Services Inspection Programme (MY SIP).

We engaged in a critical meeting with the Principal to assess the state of the school and the welfare of the learners.

✅ THE GOOD NEWS: The structure was pleased to note several positives during the inspection:

A fully functional School Nutrition Programme.

Adequate staffing levels.

A curriculum that is being implemented effectively.

⚠️ AREAS OF CONCERN: However, a major challenge remains. The state of the facilities—specifically the infrastructure—is dilapidated and requires serious, urgent attention.

SAYC Mopani Region is committed to ensuring a dignified learning environment for all. We will immediately engage the Department of Basic Education to fast-track the necessary renovations and infrastructure upgrades.

[In Pictures] Following the official inspection at Raphahlelo Clinic yesterday, our Regional Chairperson, Mr. Kabelo Madula, decided to lead from the front.

Before concluding the visit, the Chairperson underwent a full medical check-up, including vital signs screening and an HIV test. By doing so, he aims to break the stigma surrounding clinic visits and encourage health transparency among young men and women.
