The Groenkloof Foundation recently received an unexpected outpouring of love in the form of yarn and fabric — in every colour of the rainbow 🌈 and crafted with such care 🪡 by the creative members of the 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗮 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱.

👩‍🧵 Cheryll van Zyl, chairperson of Groenkloof’s 𝙑𝙡𝙮𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙚 𝙑𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙨 knitting club, was invited to attend the Guild’s 40th anniversary celebration on behalf of Groenkloof Foundation. Cheryll says the colourful quilts were breathtaking — each one a work of art showing what becomes possible when people work with both their hands and their hearts.

Gift parcels containing items from the Guild’s “Thank You Year” projects were handed out to various community organisations.

🎁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱: 🧶 Crocheted blankets 🧸 Children’s and baby jerseys 🌙 Baby blankets 🎒 Bibs for seniors, fidget aprons 🧤 Gloves 🛍️ Drawstring bags 💛 and other beautiful handmade items.

The appropriate items will go directly to the Groenkloof George Care Centre, and the rest will be distributed wherever they can bring the most warmth.

Groenkloof Stigting het onlangs heel onverwags ’n klomp liefde ontvang in die vorm van wol en lap, in al die kleure van die reënboog 🌈 en met soveel sorg geskep 🪡deur die kreatiewe lede van die 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗮 𝗞𝘄𝗶𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲.

👩‍🧵 Cheryll van Zyl, voorsitter van Groenkloof se 𝙑𝙡𝙮𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙚 𝙑𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙨-breiklub, is genooi om namens die Groenkloof Stigting die Gilde se 40ste verjaarsdagviering by te woon. Cheryll sê die kleurvolle kwilts was asemrowend en iets om te aanskou … elkeen ’n kunswerk wat wys wat gedoen kan word wanneer mense met hul hande én harte werk.

Geskenkpakke met items uit die Gilde se Dankie-jaarprojekte is uitgedeel aan verskeie gemeenskapsorganisasies.

💛 𝗗𝗢𝗣𝗣𝗜𝗘𝗦, 𝗗𝗘𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗦 & 𝗗𝗘𝗘𝗟𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗘

’n Klompie Groenkloof-inwoners het vanoggend hul hande (en harte!) bymekaar gesit om botteldoppies vir die 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 te sorteer — en was dit nou ’n heerlike, gesellige oggend om die tafel!
Lekker lag, interessante stories en kleurvolle hope doppies het gewys hoe klein dade saam ‘n groot verskil maak. Die groep het só lekker gewerk en gekuier dat hulle net daar besluit het: 𝙊𝙣𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙣 𝙙𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙧!

Die Sweethearts Foundation is ’n landwye, vrywilliger gedrewe organisasie wat plastiek bottelproppe en broodknippies insamel, dit aan herwinningsvennote verkoop en die fondse gebruik om rolstoele aan kinders en volwassenes te skenk.

A cheerful group of Groenkloof residents gathered this morning to sort bottle caps for The Sweethearts Foundation — and what a wonderfully sociable, laughter filled morning it turned out to be. Good humour, interesting stories and colourful piles of caps showed how small actions, done together, can make a big difference. The group enjoyed the work (and the company!) so much that they decided on the spot: 𝙒𝙚’𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣!

The Sweethearts Foundation is a nationwide, volunteer driven organisation that collects plastic bottle caps and bread tags, sells them to recycling partners, and uses the funds to donate wheelchairs to children and adults in need.

Die projekte wissel gereeld onder die passievolle leiding van 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻, ons klubvoorsitter, so daar’s altyd iets nuuts om te ontdek.

Koos jumped up like a ninja caught in the act.
First, straightened his clothes.
Then checked if the neighbour saw him.
Then did that half sit, half stand move to see if his knee still existed — and hobbled home.

🔔🛎️ The bells started ringing the moment balls and balls of yarn in the most beautiful colours and textures spilled out of the bag — IT’S THE YARN FACTORY! Our 𝗩𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯 wrote to the 𝗦𝗮𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘅 𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 in the Eastern Cape a while ago, asking whether the club might be considered for a donation since they focus especially on easing the winter cold with cosy knitted items for those in need.

Their hope was not in vain, and since then, the knitting needles have been click‑clacking without pause. The Vlytige Vingers are in their element, creating new goodies that carry warmth and care to wherever they are needed most. 🧣🧦💓

🔔🛎️Die klokke het begin lui toe bolle en bolle wol in die mooiste kleure en teksture uit die sak uit peul – DIS SOWAAR DIE WOLFABRIEK! Ons 𝗩𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀-𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗸𝗹𝘂𝗯 het ’n ruk gelede aan die 𝗦𝗮𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘅-𝘄𝗼𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗸 in die Oos-Kaap geskryf om te hoor of die klub dalk oorweeg kan word vir ’n wol-skenking aangesien die klub hom toespits daarop om veral die winterkoue te verlig met snoesige breiware vir behoeftiges.

Die hoop het nie beskaam nie, en sedertdien klik‑klak die breipenne onophoudelik. Die Vlytige Vingers is in hul element, besig om nuwe sagte goed te skep wat warmte en omgee dra na waar dit die nodigste is. 🧣🧦💓

Die “ou hande” kry ook weer ’n geleentheid om hul kennis te verfris en vaardighede op te skerp in interaktiewe kleingroepsessies en rolspelsituasies met Suster Ineke Goosen, hoof van die Groenkloof Akademie. Die opknappingskursus vir versorgers in diens van die Groenkloof-aftreeoord het vandeesweek afgeskop en sal tot 5 September stelselmatig deur al die versorgers werk.
