Burnout has some well-known signs:

Exhaustion - can’t find your energy no matter what

brain fog - clarity eludes you, easily distracted

Disconnection - hard to connect with people or projects

Overwhelm - everything feels jumbled together and too much

Some signs are less obvious - but just as important:

Snapping faster - when little things make you lose it.

Struggling to care - what used to be important no longer is

Feeling flat - like living a shade of gray

Forgetting simple things - when your brain is just too overloaded

Low patience - high irritation if your expectations aren’t immediately met

Waking up drained - when your energy is depleted even before the day begins

Dreading small tasks - even little things feel daunting and too much

Showing up still - feeling like a robot, but still trying to get it all done.

Know that it can get better. Clearly, there has to be a shift - your body and mind are trying to tell you that this pattern is no longer working.

The good news is:

“With the right support, your nervous system can heal, your capacity can return, and life can stop feeling this relentlessly heavy.” Dr. Linnea Passaler

The first step is to recognize what’s actually going on…

How has burnout shown up for you?

Drop a 🩶 if you recognize any of the signs.

Attention all Garden Route Businesses:

Is your team aligned, or simply busy?

What if your next breakthrough idea was already sitting inside your team?

Many businesses struggle with the same challenges:

• Teams working in silos
• Communication breakdowns
• Resistance to change
• Lack of innovation and fresh thinking
• Misalignment between strategy and ex*****on

At Creative Catalysts SA, we help businesses tackle these challenges through LEGO®️ Serious Play®️ – a globally recognised facilitation methodology used by organisations around the world to unlock creativity, improve communication, and create meaningful alignment.

This is not a team-building exercise.

It is a structured, facilitated process that enables every voice in the room to be heard, helping teams uncover insights, solve complex problems, and develop shared understanding in a way that traditional meetings simply cannot achieve.

Our workshops help organisations:

✓ Improve communication and collaboration
✓ Build stronger, more connected teams
✓ Stimulate creative and strategic thinking
✓ Align teams around common goals and vision
✓ Navigate change and uncertainty with confidence
✓ Turn ideas into practical action plans

As certified LEGO®️ Serious Play®️ facilitators, we design bespoke sessions for leadership teams, departments, project teams, schools, non-profit organisations, and businesses of all sizes.

Through our partnership with Imbewu Science Foundation, we also contribute to developing South Africa's future innovators through STEM education programmes, robotics, coding, AI, educator development, science engagement initiatives, and community impact projects. These programmes are creating measurable impact by increasing STEM participation, empowering educators, and building a sustainable pipeline of future talent for our country.

Whether you are planning for growth, tackling organisational challenges, strengthening culture, or looking for a fresh approach to strategic planning, Creative Catalysts can help your team think differently and move forward together.

We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and explore how a customised workshop could benefit your organisation.

🚨 URGENT TRAIL SAFETY ALERT: STAY OFF THE TRAILS 🚨

⚠️ ORANGE LEVEL 8 WEATHER WARNING ISSUED (UPGRADED FROM LEVEL 6)

George Trails community, please take note: The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has upgraded the weather warning to an Orange Level 8 for disruptive rainfall affecting the Garden Route from Wednesday, 3 June until Thursday, 4 June 2026.

We are expecting severe weather, and we strongly urge all trail users to stay entirely off the trails during this period. Mountainous areas are expected to receive the brunt of this system.

🌧️ What to Expect:

Massive Rainfall: 150–200 mm of rain is possible, with even higher accumulations expected in our mountains and upper trail networks.

High-Risk Trail Conditions: Extreme risk of mudslides, rockfalls, and falling trees.

Dangerous Waterways: Fast-flowing streams and dangerous, flooded river crossings. What looks like a small creek today will be a raging torrent tomorrow.

Infrastructure Damage: Potential flooding of access roads, bridges, and trail networks.

🚫 Your Safety Checklist:

Stay off the dirt: Do not attempt to hike, run, or ride until the storm has passed and trails have been assessed for damage.

Avoid unnecessary travel: Keep off mountain passes and flooded roads.

Keep a close eye on kids & pets: Ensure they stay far away from rivers, stormwater drains, and flooded areas.

Stay informed: Follow official disaster management and SAWS updates.

Our trails will recover, but lives cannot be replaced. Please prioritize your safety, stay indoors, and let’s ride out this storm safely. 🌧️🏠

WORKSHOP

The New Law on Dismissal

The "new COGP dismissal" refers to the 2025 Code of Good Practice: Dismissal, which came into effect in South Africa on 4 September 2025. This code consolidates and replaces the previous Schedule 8 of the Labour Relations Act (LRA) and the separate code on operational requirements (retrenchment) into a single, unified framework.

Key Changes and Highlights (2025 Code)
Small Business Flexibility: The code explicitly acknowledges that small enterprises may lack HR departments, allowing them to follow less formal procedures for dismissals, provided the process is still fair.

"Suitability" in Probation: The purpose of probation is no longer just for performance evaluation but now officially includes assessing an employee’s "suitability for employment," including their fit with the company culture, attitude, and conduct.
Incompatibility as Incapacity: The code officially recognizes "incompatibility"—an employee's inability to work in harmony with colleagues or within the business culture—as a form of incapacity that may justify dismissal.

Senior Employee Accountability: It is now explicitly stated that for senior employees or managers, prior warnings for poor performance may not be necessary, as they should be capable of judging their own performance.

Consolidated Retrenchment (Operational Requirements): The separate code for retrenchments is gone. All dismissal types (misconduct, incapacity, operational requirements) are now in one document, which includes a standardized retrenchment notice template.

Incarceration: Imprisonment is specifically acknowledged as a form of incapacity.
