Sometimes, a donation is about much more than the items it allows an organisation to purchase. Sometimes, it becomes a tool for reaching a young person before a life-changing mistake is made.

People Against Substance Abuse (PASA) would like to extend our heartfelt and sincere thanks to Grandslots for their generous donation and for believing in the work we do in our schools and communities. 🙏❤️

Because of your support, PASA has been able to purchase new laptops, laptop bags and other essential equipment that will be used by our programme facilitators when delivering our programmes to learners.

💻 The new laptops will allow our facilitators to deliver more professional, interactive and engaging presentations, videos and educational content.

🎒 The new facilitator bags and equipment mean that our team can arrive at schools properly equipped and ready to deliver quality programmes.

🏫 For our schools, this means better-equipped facilitators and better-quality programmes.

👧🏽👦🏽 For our learners, it means access to information, encouragement, positive role models and messages that can potentially change the direction of their lives.

Our programmes are not simply about talking to young people about substance abuse. They are about helping learners understand peer pressure, difficult circumstances, self-image, relationships, decision-making, bullying, healthy lifestyles and the importance of having dreams and a purpose in life.

Every presentation we deliver represents an opportunity to reach a young person who may be struggling silently. An opportunity to give them another perspective. An opportunity to remind them that their circumstances do not have to determine their future.

For 20 years, PASA has been taking these messages into schools and empowering thousands of young people to make positive and responsible choices.

📚 A DAY OF LEARNING, GROWTH & STRONGER ORGANISATIONS!

Today, People Against Substance Abuse (PASA) hosted our “Policy Writing Workshop for Non Profit Organisations in South Africa at Parow Library.

It was a valuable day focused on helping nonprofit and community organisations understand the importance of having strong, practical and effective organisational policies.

Participants explored: ✅ South African legal and compliance requirements
✅ How to develop effective organisational policies
✅ Common policy-writing mistakes
✅ What funders look for during due diligence
✅ How good policies strengthen governance and accountability
✅ Protecting organisations and beneficiaries through sound policies
✅ Building stronger systems for sustainable organisational growth

We believe that strong communities need strong organisations, and strong organisations need the right systems, policies and governance structures in place. 💙

A big thank you to everyone who attended and participated today. Your commitment to strengthening your organisations ultimately contributes to stronger and more sustainable communities.

🌟 Living Lives of Purpose – Country House 🌟

Today we gathered with learners at Country House for a powerful and transformative session.

💡 We spoke about the different types of drugs and the devastating effects they have on the body, mind, and soul. Learners were challenged to see how these substances rob them of health, clarity, and their God‑given potential.

⚔️ We also addressed the Six Giants that often influence young people’s choices:

Society

Peer pressure

Boredom

Rebelliousness

Difficult circumstances

Low self‑esteem

These giants can push learners toward destructive paths, but we reminded them that they have the strength to rise above and choose differently.

🌱 We encouraged learners to embrace healthy alternatives — sports, creativity, friendships, and positive activities that bring joy and fulfillment without the chains of addiction.

🙏 A highlight of the day was sharing about God’s purpose and plans for each learner. Every young person was reminded that they are uniquely gifted, created with talents and a destiny that no substance can ever replace.

💬 I also shared my own testimony — how wrong choices and drugs almost destroyed my life, but by God’s grace I was saved and restored. This personal story brought hope and showed learners that no matter how far one may fall, God’s love and purpose can lift them up again.

✨ Learners left not only informed but truly equipped and empowered to live lives of purpose.

🌟 Days 2 & 3 – Bound Life Skills Program at New Dawn Park Primary 🌟

We would like to thank all our partners for their valuable contribution in partnering with us to make this program possible.

Over the past two days, our learners embarked on a powerful journey of awareness, reflection, and inspiration.

💡 We explored the dangers and consequences of substance abuse, looking closely at how different drugs — including ci******es, dagga, v**e, alcohol, mandrax, tik, and co***ne — affect the brain, body, and soul. Learners were challenged to see beyond the false promises of these substances and understand the devastating impact they can have on their health, choices, and future.

🌱 We also introduced the concept of a “natural high” — the joy, excitement, and fulfillment that comes from positive activities, creativity, sports, friendships, and living with purpose. This reminded learners that true happiness never needs to be found in drugs.

🍷 A special focus was placed on alcohol and its influence on decision-making, especially how it can lead to devastating consequences in areas such as relationships and sexual choices. Learners were encouraged to think critically about how one moment of impaired judgment can change a life forever.

🎥 To close our program, we watched an inspiring video of Nick Vujicic, whose life testimony reminded every learner that despite challenges, each one of them has a God-given purpose, talents, and gifts. His message stirred hearts and motivated learners to embrace their uniqueness and live boldly with faith and determination.

✨ These two days were not just about warnings — they were about empowerment, hope, and purpose. Learners left with a deeper understanding of the dangers of substance abuse, but more importantly, with a renewed vision to live life fully, positively, and in alignment with the destiny God has placed within them.
