On behalf of the George Community Police Forum, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues, and loved ones of SAPS Captain Mzayiya that lost his life recently during a shootout with suspects in Knysna.

*Success Story*

Theft of Motorcycle linked with Possession of Stolen Property.

Motorcycle was reported stolen between 27 an 28 July 2026 between 18h00 and 07h00 in Denneoord, George.

Information was shared on relevant communication platforms and available video footage made a link with a possible suspect.

Suspect's house was searched and he was found hiding on the roof with the motorcycle which was already sprayed a dark colour.

Suspect was arrested and motorcycle confiscated.

Well done to Blanco NHW, members of the public and George SAPS - just proof again of how we can fight crime when we work as a team!

SAFETY ALERT – GEORGE CBD & GEORGE CENTRAL

The George Community Police Forum is calling on residents, business owners and visitors to remain vigilant while in the George CBD and George Central areas.

Unfortunately, theft, theft out of motor vehicles and burglaries continue to be major concerns. By working together and taking simple precautions, we can help reduce crime and create a safer community for everyone.

Safety Tips:
• Always lock your vehicle and close all windows.
• Never leave handbags, cellphones, laptops or other valuables visible inside your vehicle.
• Park in well-lit, busy areas whenever possible.
• Stay aware of your surroundings and report suspicious behaviour immediately.
• Ensure your home and business have proper security measures in place.

If you see something, say something. Your quick action could prevent a crime and help protect someone else.

My name is Shawn Northey, Chairman of the George Community Policing Forum (CPF).

I wish to address a social media post claiming that the missing girl, Sarah Rose Starrett, has been found. I can confirm that this information is false.

The George CPF, together with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and other partner organisations, continues to work tirelessly in the ongoing search for Sarah. At this stage, she has not been located, and the investigation remains active.

We urge members of the public to refrain from sharing or reposting information that has not been officially verified by SAPS. The spread of unverified or false information can seriously hinder an ongoing investigation that has already required thousands of rands in funding, as well as thousands of man-hours and significant operational resources.

Furthermore, the deliberate or negligent dissemination of false information on social media in South Africa may have serious legal consequences under both civil and criminal law.

If you have any information that could assist in locating Sarah Rose Starrett, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Jacobs, on 082 335 1200, or the George SAPS on 044 803 4732 immediately.

We sincerely appreciate the continued support, cooperation, and vigilance of the community as we work together to bring Sarah home safely.
