As we turn the page on May, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported Insimbi throughout the month πŸ’šπŸ¦

Thank you to our donors, adopters, visitors, volunteers, Virtual Challenge participants, and everyone who continues to stand with us in protecting rhinos.

A special thank you to Talula Designs , our May Calendar Sponsor and Ambassador, and to Demitra Raouna, for capturing this month's beautiful calendar image.

Thank you to all the groups who visited us during May, as well as our friends from Bulgaria who shared their skills and knowledge with our team.

From donations and adoptions to training, conservation work, and unforgettable experiences in the bush, every contribution helped make a difference.

Thank you for being part of the Insimbi family. We can't wait to share what June has in store! πŸ’šπŸ¦

Keeping rhinos safe is not easy.

It means constantly fighting for an animal that does not even understand the dangers it faces.

It means sleepless nights, difficult decisions, heartbreak, stress, and carrying the weight of protecting a species that should simply be allowed to exist peacefully in the wild.

If you have ever met our founder, you will know that this is all done out of genuine love for these animals. Every moment, every sacrifice, every difficult day β€” it is for them.

The images shared here capture our founder with her hands on her gentle giants during a collaring procedure β€” a quiet but powerful reminder of the deep bond, responsibility, and care that comes with protecting these animals.

It is for future generations to still be able to witness rhinos walking across African soil.

It is for the rhinos we have already lost.

And it is for those we still have a chance to save.

Some people see a rhino.

We see individuals with personalities, stories, and lives worth fighting for πŸ’š

Recently, we had the privilege of hosting four incredible individuals from Bulgaria at Insimbi πŸ’šπŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ¦

Their visit focused on sharing valuable knowledge and hands-on training with our anti-poaching unit β€” particularly in emergency trauma care and the treatment of critical field injuries that rangers may face while out on patrol.

Alongside the training, they also assisted with patrols on the ground and helped raise awareness for rhino conservation and the realities faced by those protecting endangered wildlife.

These individuals are highly skilled professionals, and we are extremely grateful for the time, knowledge, and experience they shared with our team.

A special thank you goes to Dimitar Dimitrov, who led the trip. Dimitar first came to Insimbi through Conservation Rangers Operations Worldwide, where he assisted us with patrol support and boots on the ground.

We would also like to thank Conservation Rangers Operations Worldwide for the important work they continue to do in supporting conservation teams and helping equip those who choose to stand against poaching.

What started for Dimitar as volunteer conservation work eventually grew into a role focused on training and preparing rangers working in the field.

Dimitar has also written a book titled The Last Breath, currently available in Bulgarian, with hopes of one day bringing a translated version to a wider audience. The book shares insight into the realities faced by rangers and the challenges involved in protecting endangered wildlife like our rhinos β€” helping readers better understand the dedication, sacrifice, and resilience required in this line of work.

Thanks to the sales of the book, Dimitar was also recently able to supply a large donation of much-needed equipment to support conservation efforts on the ground.

⚠️ Please note: Some of the images included in this post depict realistic training wounds used during emergency response training. These wounds are simulated and were created purely for training purposes.

β€œNature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” 🌿

Golden light, drifting dust, and one of the incredible animals we’re fortunate enough to protect.

Sometimes the bush gives us moments that remind us to slow down and simply appreciate the wild beauty around us πŸ’š
