On behalf of the Enviro Vito team, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who participated in our recent training session. Your engagement and commitment to learning are what drive this initiative forward.
At its core, Enviro Vito’s mission is clear: our primary interest is equipping community members with vital information, one citizen at a time. We believe that an informed community is an empowered one, and by sharing this knowledge, we are building a more resilient and sustainable future together.
*Clarification Regarding Recent Media Reports*
We would also like to take this opportunity to address a recent statement made by Mokopane FM. We categorically distance ourselves from their report, which sought to give the impression that the event had a low turnout.
While such sentiments may have been echoed as an expression of concern by a specific participant, we understand the underlying agenda behind these claims. We would like to clarify the following:
1. The training went exceptionally well and proceeded exactly as planned.
2. The session met our internal benchmarks for engagement and information delivery.
Our success is measured by the quality of the empowerment provided to those in attendance, rather than external narratives.
We remain focused on our goal of community education and thank you for your continued support. Mokopane FM SA

The Young Urban Women Movement in Mokopane has raised concern over poor community attendance at a water quality testing training session held on Thursday, despite ongoing water challenges in the Mogalakwena area.
The Mokopane Communities Water Testing programme, hosted on 23 April, went ahead as planned but drew fewer residents than organisers had hoped. The initiative is a partnership between WaterCan, environmental group Enviro Vito, and YUWM, aimed at equipping Mogalakwena residents with practical tools to test water quality and help address shortages.
Speaking on Mokopane FM, YUWM’s Melita Kekana said the organisation appreciates the opportunity but wants to see the programme reach more people.
“We will work extremely hard to ensure that the information reaches a larger number of participants to empower the people of Mogalakwena,” Kekana said.
“It is a great initiative, but we have to use platforms that attract more participants to be part of this in the future,” she added.
The training gives community members hands-on skills to monitor water safety, a critical intervention in Mogalakwena, where residents regularly face water quality and supply challenges. The programme is being praised as a community-driven solution to help households identify contamination and advocate for improved services.
Kekana said YUWM is hoping to grow this initiative and partnership to greater heights and expand its footprint across the region.
Residents interested in participating in the future are encouraged to contact YUWM and follow updates on Mokopane FM.
