Johanna Seanego (Mmasetshaba) is a true example of resilience, determination, and hard work. From being a Sisterhood Advocate to becoming a young entrepreneur, she used the stipend she received from the SEF project not only to survive, but to build a future for herself. Today, she is the founder of ENWA MEETSI Purified Water, a growing water purification business that is creating hope and opportunity within the community.

Her journey shows that when women are empowered with even a small opportunity, they can turn it into something meaningful and sustainable. Johanna did not allow her circumstances to define her. Through dedication, sacrifice, and consistency, she transformed her vision into reality.

She is proof that Sisterhood Advocates are not only changing communities, but are also building pathways for economic empowerment and independence. We are proud to witness her growth and celebrate the powerful woman she continues to become.

Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes they walk into a home, see the pain, the mess, the exhaustion, and instead of judging, they roll up their sleeves and start cleaning, washing clothes, and helping survivors feel human again.

Some people will never understand that real community work is found in those small moments of love, care, and dignity. ❤️

We were honoured to attend the In-Person Social Employment Network Workshop hosted by IDC and the Social Employment Network (SEN) in Sandton.

This powerful two-day workshop brought together Strategic Implementing Partners (SIPs) from across the country to reflect on and explore the value and impact of the Social Employment Fund (SEF) beyond public employment programmes. The conversations focused not only on participants pathways and opportunities, but also on the wider contribution SEF continues to make towards strengthening communities and advancing the common good.

A big thank you to Hlanganisa Community Fund for the invitation and for continuously creating spaces where organisations can learn, reflect, and strengthen the work happening on the ground.

Today we honour those who fought, sacrificed, and stood strong so that we could be free.

As we celebrate, we must also remember,
for many, freedom is still something they are waiting to fully feel.

At OPRET ADVICE OFFICE, we continue the work of protecting dignity, standing for justice, and supporting those who are still unheard.

We honour the past by fighting for a better present and future.

Frontline workers in the GBVF space carry the pain, trauma, and stories of many survivors. Debriefing is not a luxury, it is essential. It creates a safe space to release, reflect, and restore emotional strength so that we can continue serving with compassion and clarity.

As we care for others, we must also care for ourselves. Healing is part of the work.
