From 25–27 August 2026, we begin a powerful journey with 90 learners across 3 schools, establishing 3 Human Rights Clubs that will be mentored and supported for the next 9 months.

For nine months, these young people will be challenged to think, question, speak, lead and act. They will learn their rights, understand the Constitution, engage with issues of dignity, equality and justice, and discover the power of their own voices.

We are planting something bigger than a programme.

We are raising informed young leaders.
We are building courageous voices.
We are nurturing young people who will recognise injustice and know that they have the power to challenge it.

In May, OPRET ADVICE OFFICE had the privilege of joining the Social Change Assistance Trust (S**T) and fellow community-based organisations for the Rural Action for Climate Resilience (RACR) Workshop in Sandton.

The workshop provided a valuable space for learning, sharing and strengthening our understanding of climate resilience, climate advocacy and the important role communities play in responding to climate change.

One of the highlights was our visit to The Compost Kitchen, where we experienced practical solutions for managing food waste and learnt how composting can turn everyday waste into something valuable while contributing to a healthier environment.

For us, the experience reinforced an important message: climate action must make sense at community level. It is about equipping ordinary people with knowledge and practical solutions that can improve their environment, strengthen livelihoods and build more resilient communities.
