🐾 SIMON & GARFUNKEL ARE LOOKING FOR A HOME! 🐾

Hello darkness, my old friend... well, these two little boys would much rather say hello to a loving forever family.

Meet Simon and Garfunkel, two adorable 3-month-old kitten brothers who are ready to start the next chapter of their lives. They are playful, curious, affectionate, and like most siblings, they are happiest when they are together.

Whether they are chasing toys, exploring every corner of the house, or curling up for a nap after a busy day of kitten adventures, these boys are guaranteed to keep you entertained and fill your home with love.

We would love to see them adopted together so they can continue their lifelong friendship, but we will consider separate homes if the right families come along.

We are based in Fouriesburg in the Free State, but we have rehomed cats successfully all over SA. Standard adoption procedures, including a home check do apply, and our adoption fee is R750 per kitten which does include their sterilisation at 6 months.

PLEASE NOTE – as we are a veterinary welfare, we require proof that any animals in your home are sterilised and fully vaccinated and this is not negotiable.

If you think Simon and Garfunkel could be the perfect addition to your home, please get in touch with Imogen from the Cluny team on 082 335 3710 or [email protected]

Please share and help us find these handsome brothers the forever homes they deserve. 🐱❤️🐱❤️

HOMEWARD BOUND! 🐾❤️

Great news - Bettina (you may remember she was kicked by a goat) went home yesterday, a little earlier than we initially projected, all healed up and feeling much better!

After receiving the veterinary care she needed, Bettina has made a wonderful recovery and was able to return home to her family.

The story doesn't end here, though. Bettina will be back with us in about 4 weeks for her sterilisation.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who supports our work, without your generosity, animals like Bettina would not have access to the veterinary care they so desperately need.

Safe travels home, Bettina – we'll see you again soon!

🐾 MEET JADE 🐾

Jade is a beautiful female tabby cat, approximately 2 years old, who is looking for her forever home.

Jade's story is a bit of a mystery. She arrived at a home in Mashaeng, Fouriesburg while heavily pregnant and made herself comfortable in an outbuilding, where she gave birth to her kittens. When the family contacted us for help, we took Jade and her babies into our care to ensure they were safe and well looked after.

Interestingly, Jade has a tipped ear, which usually indicates that a cat has previously been part of a sterilisation programme, so exactly how she came to be in her situation remains a mystery.

Her kittens have been rehomed and Jade has been sterilised and vaccinated and is now ready to find a home of her own. She is an incredibly friendly, relaxed girl who enjoys human company and would make a wonderful companion.

Unfortunately, we do not have a cattery facility, and Jade is currently being housed in a cage. While she is coping, this is far from ideal for a cat who deserves the freedom to roam around a home, curl up on a couch, and enjoy life as a beloved family pet.

If you're looking for a sweet, easy-going cat to join your family, Jade could be the perfect match. Please help us find this special girl the forever home she deserves.

We are based in Fouriesburg in the Free State, but we have rehomed cats successfully all over SA. Standard adoption procedures, including a home check do apply, and our adoption fee is R750.

PLEASE NOTE – as we are a veterinary welfare, we require proof that any animals in your home are sterilised and fully vaccinated and this is not negotiable.

If you think you could be Jade’s forever family, please get in touch with Imogen from the Cluny team on 082 335 3710 or [email protected]

If you can’t adopt - please share this post to help her find the perfect forever home.

DAISY AND THE CLUNY TEAM SAY HI…TODAY IS A VERY SPECIAL MARKET DAY IN CLARENS!

We love market days and today’s market day is extra special because we are joined by a very special member of our team…Daisy 🌼🌼🌼

Yes, that’s right, the one, the only…Daisy, is with us today to bring a little bit of extra magic to the day! Our stall is set up, and we are very hard to miss!

If you are in Clarens this long weekend, please pop past our stall today and come and support us. We have a load of pre-loved books, DVDs as well as some wonderful brand-new pets’ toys and doggie jackets that were all donated to us – everything is available just for a donation to help us fund our veterinary work.

Plus, our 8th annual Sweepstakes tickets, are on sale as well! Only R100 for a ticket, we sell 1000 tickets (in person and electronically) each year and we give away R25,000 to a single prize winner and the balance of the funds help us to keep Daisy on the road and to do our work.

We hope to see you soon😉

🍻 JUNE SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE Clarens Brewery 🍻

Our annual calendars play an important role in helping us raise funds for our ongoing sterilisation projects, but they simply would not be possible without the incredible support of local businesses who sponsor them each year.

Today we'd like to shine the spotlight on some very special supporters – Lindsey, Brett, their beloved rescue dog Leo, and the amazing team at Clarens Brewery.

Not only did they sponsor the month of June for our 2026 calendar, but they have also been long-time friends and supporters of Cluny. In fact, Leo himself is a proud Cluny alumnus, he was adopted from us back in 2021, making this partnership even more meaningful to us.

For anyone visiting Clarens, the Clarens Brewery is a must-stop destination. Whether you're in the mood for expertly crafted beers, refreshing local ciders, delicious G&Ts on tap, or simply a fantastic meal in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, they've got you covered. Even better, they're proudly pet-friendly, so your four-legged family members are welcome too.

More than just a brewery, Clarens Brewery has become part of the fabric of our community - a place where locals and visitors come together to relax, connect, and create memories.

Thank you, Lindsey, Brett, Leo, and the entire team for your generosity, your friendship, and your continued support of our work. We are incredibly grateful to have you as part of the Cluny family. ❤️

If you're planning a trip to Clarens, be sure to pay them a visit - you won't be disappointed!

🚨 WARNING: WE ARE PROBABLY RISKING FACEBOOK JAIL WITH THIS ONE... 🚨

Meet the "P***s Dog" 😳

Before anyone asks, yes, that is exactly what you are looking at. Poor Tiger was brought to us at this past weekend’s outreach in Tweeling for sterilisation. Once we popped him into one of the cages, we noticed that he had some very unusual looking lesions on his p***s.

Dr Elsa is not entirely sure what caused the growths (we did test for TVT which was negative) and sterilising him there and then in Daisy was not the right course of action. So, we chatted to his owner, explained the situation and we brought him back to Fouriesburg so we could check it out properly - Dr Elsa removed the lesions yesterday and we also sterilised him – please see the before and after pictures hence the comment that the pictures may put us in Facebook jail 😬

The good news is that he is recovering well, as the other pictures show, we took these just now and he will be staying with us until we go back to the area for the follow-ups in about 10 days. We are keeping everything crossed that the lesions do not grow back again.

While the photos may raise a few eyebrows and get a few laughs, there is a very important message behind Tiger's story.

Without our outreach programme, Tiger would likely never have had access to veterinary care. Many animals in rural communities suffer from conditions that go untreated simply because veterinary services are out of reach. Through our outreach work, we are able to identify animals in need, provide treatment, relieve suffering, and give them a second chance.

Every animal deserves access to veterinary care, no matter where they live. Tiger is just one example of why our work matters so much.

But for sure, cases like this remind us that in rescue and veterinary work, there is rarely a dull moment. Every day brings something new, unusual, and sometimes downright bizarre!

QUICK UPDATE ON WHERE WE ARE AT!

This year, Dr Elsa has once again bravely signed up for the 2026 Polar Bear Plunge with one very important goal – raising R40,000 to help us to get started on building an isolation ward at our clinic in Fouriesburg, Free State.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we've already raised R17,200, but we still have a long way to go!

An isolation ward will allow us to safely treat animals with infectious diseases, protecting our patients and giving vulnerable animals the space they need to recover.

Please consider sponsoring Dr Elsa and helping her reach her personal goal.

Every rand sponsored brings us one step closer to making this dream a reality. Whether it's R20, R50, R100, R500 or more, your support will make a real difference.

If you would like to sponsor her, our banking details are:

SUCH AN AMAZING OUTREACH IN TWEELING THIS PAST WEEKEND!

This outreach was particularly special for us because it marked the third year that we have returned to Tweeling to help the animals and people of this community.

Three years ago, local Tweeling resident Dibuseng Sara Ndaba started reaching out to us, asking for help for the animals in her area. Since then, she has remained one of Tweeling's biggest advocates, continually working with us to improve the lives of the community's pets.

Returning year after year is important because lasting change does not happen overnight. Sterilisations, veterinary care, education, and community engagement all have a far greater impact when they are sustained over time. Being back in Tweeling for a third year has allowed us to build on the work we have already done and continue making a meaningful difference where it is needed most.

While we would love to help every community that reaches out to us, the reality is that outreach work depends entirely on funding. When the opportunity arose to apply for a grant from The Edgard & Cooper Foundation, we knew Tweeling had to be included. Thanks to that support, we were able to return once again and continue helping the animals who need us most.

And what a weekend it was! Thanks to our incredible veterinary team and a small army of dedicated volunteers, we were able to provide vital veterinary treatments to more than 400 animals. From vaccinations and parasite treatments to life-changing sterilisations and medical care, every animal treated represents a family helped and a healthier future for this community's pets.

A very special thank you to Dr Wimé, Dr Karla, Dr Laura, Zethu, Dibuseng, Jabulani and Amos, who all sacrificed their weekend to support our team. Whether it was assisting with surgeries, handling animals, helping with treatments, managing queues, or simply doing whatever needed to be done, every single one of you played an important role in making this outreach a success – THANK YOU 🙌

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Joy and Eric from the Moria Gemeente - Tweeling for accommodating and feeding our team throughout the weekend. After long days on our feet and late evenings caring for animals, having a warm place to stay and good food waiting for us made all the difference. Your kindness, generosity and hospitality ensured that our team and volunteers were well looked after and able to focus on the important work at hand.

So, what exactly did the team achieve over the weekend?
🐾 59 sterilisations performed
🐾 398 animals vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for ticks and fleas.
🐾 Treated 3 sick dogs – one which we have brought back to our clinic
🐾 More than 120kg of food distributed

And then there are the things we can never accurately count – the conversations, advice, education, and encouragement shared with animal owners throughout the weekend. Every discussion about responsible pet ownership has the potential to change an animal's life for the better.

Weekends like these remind us that real change happens when communities, volunteers and supporters come together with a shared purpose. We are incredibly proud of what was achieved and grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.

BREAKING NEWS FROM Clementines Clarens 🐾

This just in…Clementines' resident feline CFO (Chief Feline Officer), Ginja has been hard at work counting the donated money from the Matchbox Project this morning. Unfortunately, with four paws he states that balancing the books has proven to be a rather demanding and tiring task.

Sources close to management report that Ginja has formally requested access to additional treats, an extended nap schedule, and more flexible working hours to cope with the mounting pressures of high finance.

Insiders say negotiations have stalled after Ginja rejected the initial offer of two biscuits and a sunny windowsill, insisting on a comprehensive benefits package that includes unlimited snacks and daily belly rubs.

At the time of publication, Ginja was unavailable for comment, having clocked off early for an emergency cat nap - see picture for proof!

But seriously, we remain incredibly grateful to Shelley, Mark, and the entire Clementine’s team for shining a spotlight on the work we do and for continuing to help us raise much-needed funds.

Their ongoing support enables us to provide essential veterinary care, treatment, and hope to animals who would otherwise go without.😸🐾

P.S. If you're heading to Clarens anytime soon, make sure Clementines Clarens is on your list! Delicious food, outstanding service, a beautiful atmosphere, and of course the chance to meet the one and only Ginja🧡🧡🧡
