Grandparents Day🌟👵👴
Our pre‑schoolers celebrated Grandparents Day at school; a moment that many children look forward to with joy, pride, and the comfort of family. For our little ones at iKhaya, days like these can feel different. They don’t have biological grandparents to arrive with hugs, smiles, and familiar faces. But what happened was something even more beautiful.😍
We reached out to our incredible surrogate granny and grandpa, Debbie and Barry Lane, two people who have become pillars of love and stability in our children’s lives. They arrived not as stand‑ins, but as family in a way that truly matters.
Together, they coloured pictures of “their” grandparents, painted ceramics, and shared the kind of gentle, unhurried time that children treasure. The room was filled with laughter, concentration, and the quiet magic of belonging.🌟🥰
What made the day extraordinary wasn’t the activity; it was the connection. Our children experienced what every child deserves: someone showing up just for them. Someone cheering for their artwork, admiring their colours, and holding their hand while they painted. Someone who sees them, values them, and chooses them.💙
A tender reminder that family is not only defined by blood, but by love that shows up, again and again. And our children felt that love in full colour.
At iKhaya, we are grateful for the people who step into the gaps, who become safe places, and who help our children experience moments that say, “You matter. You are loved. You belong.”
