In the midst of all of this month's chaos, I was staying up making chaos. We can all thank Gareth for introducing me to Jimothy the raccoon (and if you haven't seen him, look him up). Then the talented Megan had to go into creativity mode and make this amazing little guy. I swear I want to sit in her brain and watch her create!

Absolutely love this dude and am so honored to have tested the pattern alongside some incredible people. ❤️ The pattern also comes with a floppy legs version that is more kid friendly.

Note that Gareth has this one and seems a bit possessive, as if no one else is allowed to have one😂 But if you do want one, let me know. Sales goes into my rescue work.

I'm embarrassed to tell you how long it's taken me to work on these 2 for a very special client. I'm so grateful for Wilmein's acceptance of my life dramas, patience, her encouragement and listening ear, and kindness.

The pangolin was finished a while ago and I needed time to carefully decide on her travel companion's colors and then make her as well.

These two will be traveling as soon as I can sort out a box and not have this week continually throw drama at me (looking at you, DHA).

Just super happy with how these 2 came to life.

Bat is from Red Pine Barron and pangolin is CB Fiberworks. Handmade by me.

Earlier this month, a little girl turned 5. Her mom asked if I could make her an axolotl as she's in love with herps and the axolotl is her favorite.

Friends, we will never stifle this love for the unloved. We embrace it and we celebrate that a youngling cares about wildlife.

So I made her this axolotl. Super happy to know that Little Lady was over the moon and accepted this gift into her world.🥹❤️

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by Angie's and my stall at yesterday. We had a spectacular day and were blown away by your appreciation and humbled when we learned some of you were looking for us.

From my side, I'm in absolute awe of how you showed up and bought what brought you joy! It was a pleasure to make something with which you fell in love. I see that I need to make more dragons and bats for next year! 😁 I'm out of snails and down to a couple of mushroom sprites so I think they must be on the list too.

As mentioned, sales go to support wildlife in my direct care. While it can sometimes include reptiles (thankfully most can be released same day) and the odd small mammal or bird for triage purposes, most are bats. Caring for bats is so specialized and I cover a lot of area (from Ballito up to the border with Mozambique, along with my teammate and 1st responders). Sales from my work helps with purchasing food (and food for the food☺️), enrichment, etc.

If you'd like a commission, please let me know with plenty of time to consider. If rescue season is anything like this past one, I'm going to be swamped from Nov and could easily be 3months where I can't pick up a hook.

Please give a like. Share with others who may appreciate what I do. There are still items up for grabs. Feel free to DM or WhatsApp me to see what's available. Friends in the US, if there's something you want, let me know and I'll see if/when people are traveling here and can send back. Otherwise, I can pudo anywhere in South Africa.

I found these two friends going on an adventure! I asked where they were headed and they said that since it's a mild winter, they are headed to the beach. They hope to reach their beach destination in time to watch the sun rise. But first, a nap!🤣

I don't blame them. Finding a nice quiet spot on the beach sounds amazing!

Loads of different colors used here so let's see if I remember all of them!😂 The shell is one of the Funky Stripes and mushroom sprite body is Kismet Sea Sand. The giant snail is made from Elle Yarns Charity in Sea Salt and Thistle. The mushroom sprite cap is in GIN (bc of course it is!😂). The saddle is Khaki, Mulberry, Surf, and Sage. I think I got all the colors there.

I've been slack on sharing. It's been an eventful week and a bit regarding bats. So I guess it's appropriate to share this finished cutie. I modified the body to make more round but hindsight I should have made more potato shape.😂 I did this in the likeness of a Honduran white bat.

She's made from Elle Yarns Charity in White, Tan, and Sunshine. Wings are in Lollipop Twinkle Dark Grey. She'll be available at the Market on 4 July at Solid Ground Church.

One more project at assembly stage before the market and this weekend's task. So returning to project requests and a test pattern from tomorrow. ❤️

Remember that AI dragon pattern that went viral earlier in the year...or was it late last year? I can't quite remember but I'm pretty sure I was drowning in rescue season and not keeping up with my colleagues. All I remember was one talented crocheter taking the time to crochet the pattern as written and showing the disaster (thanks, Sarah for proving why AI is garbage for crochet patterns!). So the incomparable Megan Lapp decided she would design an actual pattern based on this AI slop one. And that's how the Charming Lacewing Dragon came to be! Since then, that brilliant mind of hers has created offshoots to go in the Charming series (to be published in due time).

So here's my Charming Lacewing Dragon, ready for her forever home and will be at the Market at Solid Ground Church on 4 July. This dragon is made with Elle Yarns Charity in Mulberry and Aglow Print in Heliotrope (it sparkles!!).

Everyone needs a happy fantasy salamander! This cutie will be available at The Market at Solid Ground Church on 4 July. Come see this and other makes. All sales go to assist with my rescue and rehab work.

This one is made with Elle Yarns Charity in Blush, Naval Bay, and Syrup. Can I just say that the new Elle prints are divine! Not stripey and looks more organic. 10 out of 10!
