Instagram is not sharing the text I write 🫩

I'll try to remember what I wrote.

I started her just as rescue season was starting and then she sat, waiting for me to finish her. I even brought her to Botswana so I could sew her feet on. I didn't even do that. That's executive dysfunction for ya.🤦‍♀️ It's not that I didn't want to, I just couldn't. A bit after returning, I did finally attach her feet and took these pics (so yeah, they are a few months old). She's still super cute.❤️

She has a forever home and is waiting on me to make her travel companion before she goes.

Cutest little dumbo octopus. This is the project I started on the plane to Botswana after a long hiatus during the peak of rescue season. I finished her not long after returning.

She's up for sale and will be at Solid Ground Market in July.

When I tell you that I have amazing repeat clients, I absolutely mean it. Kayleigh came to me with a request for a dragon. We started considering patterns and colors before rescue season started. I had the body and much of the ornamentation done before November (I think). Then rescue season hit hard and didn't let up. As I mentioned in a previous post, it was at least 10 straight weeks that I could not pick up a hook no matter how much I wanted to.

Kayleigh understood. She's been nothing but supportive of all that I do. She told me I have time. I put this dragon together soon after returning from Botswana (again, I think, as this time period is such a blur). We needed to see most of her put together to determine if we were doing wings and in what color. Of course we're gonna do wings!

So, finally, after a particularly sad month, and starting this past week off dealing with tragedy and grief, I really needed do something that brought me peace. I needed to create something beautiful.

Yesterday I finished putting her together. I don't think the pics do her justice. Kayleigh, thank you for your kindness, patience, and encouragement. I hope you love her as much as I enjoyed making her. More pics in the coming days.

Hello! I know it's been a loooonnnnggggg time since I've posted anything. The very short version is that baby/rescue season was a very difficult one this year. It was so busy that I couldn't pick up a hook for about 10 weeks. I was physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted. Then came Botswana - when I slowly pushed myself to get back to working on projects I had to put on hold. And then a lot of life happened that put me into retreat.

I'm doing what I can and trying my best. I've quietly finished short projects that I'll share later. Still need to finish bigger projects. And I have dedicated clients still waiting on me to get my spark and creativity back.

So let me start this momentum. I had the privilege of testing this pattern for . I got tickbite fever in the middle of it so I'm late to finish and share. Her pattern is published now and it's a real winner. ❤️

I know i haven't posted in a long time! Baby season really has been hard. But you'll be happy to know that I've picked up my hook again. I'm just on a little trip. Here's a post about it, copy/pasted from my personal page.❤️🧶

I am only here because my application was accepted (imposter syndrome was flowing this morning!) and so many, many people believed I belong here too. There are so many people to thank. My family, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers, who supported this financially (direct or through raffles), mentally and emotionally. Also, I'm only here because there are people at home doing the hard work - covering my responsibilities. Gareth and Claire made this possible. The Bats KZN Emergency Line Team are covering that chat while I'm away. I'm still dealing with bats😂 But the team on the ground are handling it as I pass on info to them. I'm so lucky to work with such amazing people.🦇

I owe everything to you all who cared enough to help me.get here, within your capacity. I am eternally grateful.

I'm in a conference full of queens with exceptional skills, experience, and a love for conservation. I might be the only one who works with snakes 😂 and one of a handful who works with bats (though i think the only rescue/rehabber). 120 women from 11 countries. My workshop on mentorship was also today. It's done and dusted and Onja and I got some really positive feedback. 🥳

I can relax now and just take in all that is here. Thank you. I hope you all know that I wouldn't be here without your support. ❤️

More to come as the week progresses.

Merry Christmas!

I've been rather quiet. This rescue season has been intense compared to other years. Some areas are unusually quiet while others parts just seem to keep calling.

I've had 2 pregnant females come in. Sadly I lost one and her pups to what we suspect might be chemicals from being grounded in a greenhouse. Another pregnant mom came in with a significant wing tear. 3 days after arrival, she lost her pups💔 but my vet and I managed to pull her through critical and she's with me, eating well while we wait for that tear to heal.

I haven't picked up a crochet hook in about 2 weeks. I've never gone this long since starting amigurumi. It scares me that it's been this long.

I'm exhausted. I received 23 pups from a friend whose roost was disturbed. Absolute chaos. Managed to get 11 pups back to moms over 2 nights. The remaining 12 are on the older side. Not certain if all moms are there, I'm finishing their raising to release. As of now, 9 are weaned & self feeding & half of those are practicing flying. We'll get there. It just takes a lot of time.

I hope to pick up my hook again soon. The emergencies keep coming (even today). I'm here and not ignoring. Just in the zone or sleeping. Send hugs.

Merry Christmas. ❤️🎄🦇🐍🎄❤️
