Today, on Mandela Day, we had the privilege of spending time at Gaopalelwe Foundation. What we thought would be a day of giving became a day of learning, reflection, and gratitude.
As I listened to the incredible mothers and caregivers share their journeys, I came to understand that raising a child living with a disability is not easy. Behind every smile is a story of sacrifice, sleepless nights, emotional strength, financial challenges, and unconditional love. Yet, despite everything they face, they continue to stand tall for their children every single day.
These women are far more than izimbokodo. They are warriors. They carry burdens that many of us may never fully understand, yet they continue to fight with courage, dignity, patience, and unwavering love. Today reminded me that some of the strongest people are those whose battles are rarely seen.
The children reminded us that ability is not defined by disability. They laughed, played, dreamed, and filled our hearts with joy. They are a beautiful reminder that every child deserves love, opportunity, and inclusion.
To every parent and caregiver raising a child with a disability: we see you, we honour you, and we celebrate your resilience. You are raising champions, and your strength inspires us all.

Your generosity, kindness, and willingness to partner with us made this Mandela Day celebration possible. Because of your support, we were able to create smiles, spread hope, and remind these incredible families that they are seen, valued, and loved.
Thank you to Gaopalelwe Foundation for opening your doors and your hearts to us. We came to serve, but we left inspired, humbled, and forever changed.
Together, we continue to build a world where every person is valued, every child belongs, and no family walks alone.
