🌍 Who gets to shape Africa’s climate future?

As we look towards COP31, we’re creating space for African voices to help answer that question.

✊🏾 Too often, power in the UNFCCC process is shaped by a country’s resources and negotiating capacity. But climate decisions affect people and communities far beyond the negotiating rooms.

💬 Future Forward Africa: Harvesting Climate Justice Principles on the Road to COP31 builds on conversations already held with young people and civil society in Malawi and Zambia, opening up the process to more voices across the continent.

🌱 Together with G.A.M.A. and ACRP, we’ll explore four key areas: Mitigation, Adaptation, Loss & Damage, and Means of Implementation. The insights gathered will feed into a Joint Continental Policy Brief ahead of COP31 and COP32.

✨ Save the date – Cape Town Climate Week is back! ✨

📅 31 August – 5 September 2026

🌱 For the fifth year running, Cape Town Climate Week is bringing together activists, community leaders, students, artists, and changemakers for six days of bold conversations, practical action, and community-led solutions.

Forget the boardroom. This is where climate action comes alive. Across eight interactive events, we'll explore how the climate crisis intersects with everyday issues like energy, water, food, housing, migration, and gender—and how communities are already building a more just and resilient future.

This year's programme is centred around six powerful themes:

💡 Energy Justice
💧 Water Justice
🥕 Food Justice
🏙️ Spatial Justice
✊ Migration & Gender Justice
🌍 Global Solidarity

👀 Mark your calendars and keep an eye out for the full programme, dropping next week. We can't wait to see you there!

Every harvest begins with a single seed. Don't underestimate small beginnings. One seed planted today can become food for a family tomorrow, a lesson for a child, and hope for a community!
