TDFF Engages with the Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety on Youth and Crime Challenges in Eersterivier

On Thursday, 19 June 2025, TDFF Founder Dewandré Fritz met with the Western Cape Government Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Minister Anroux Marais, along with the department’s Community Outreach Officer, Mr. Kurt Nefdt.

The meeting focused on the challenges faced by the youth of Eersterivier, including rising crime rates and the absence of sustainable community programmes. Although the list of challenges was extensive, both Minister Marais and Mr. Nefdt listened attentively, offered valuable insights based on their experience, and shared constructive suggestions.

TDFF extends its sincere appreciation to the team from the Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety for taking the time to engage with us.

“We’ve been engaging with the City’s structures since 2021, with no success whatsoever. Let’s hope this time will be different,” said Dewandré Fritz.

TDFF will continue to update the community on any developments and feedback from the Office of the Minister.

We remain committed to the people of Eersterivier and to unlocking the beauty and boundless potential of our community.
