📖 Deuteronomy 18:10–12 (NIV)
"Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist, or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these detestable practices, the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you."

“Let no one be found among you…”
👉 God is speaking to His people. This instruction is for believers who belong to Him and are called to live differently from the world.

“…who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire”
👉 This refers to extreme pagan worship where human life was offered to false gods. God values life and strongly condemns any practice that harms people in the name of spirituality.

“…who practices divination or sorcery”
👉 Divination and sorcery involve seeking hidden knowledge or power from spiritual sources outside of God, instead of trusting Him for wisdom and direction.

“…interprets omens”
👉 This means looking for signs, symbols, numbers, stars, or events to predict the future rather than relying on God’s guidance.

“…engages in witchcraft, or casts spells”
👉 These practices attempt to control outcomes or people through spiritual manipulation, rather than surrendering to God’s authority and will.

“…or who is a medium or spiritist”
👉 Mediums and spiritists claim to communicate with spirits. God forbids this because He alone is the source of truth and revelation.

“…or who consults the dead”
👉 Seeking guidance from ancestors or the dead replaces a living relationship with the living God, who speaks directly to His people.

“Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD”
👉 This does not mean God hates people. It means He strongly opposes these practices because they lead people away from Him and into spiritual danger.

“…because of these detestable practices, the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you.”
👉 God removed these practices from Israel’s land to protect His people and keep them spiritually pure and dependent on Him alone.

✨ Final Reflection
God is not trying to control His people... He is protecting them. He wants us to seek guidance, healing, power, and direction from Him alone, not from created things or spiritual substitutes.

The Danger of Lukewarm Faith

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” — Matthew 7:21

"So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” — Revelation 3:16

It’s possible to know God’s name, attend church, pray regularly, and still be far from Him. Jesus made it clear that words alone are not enough. Christianity is not about appearances or routines, it’s about surrender. God is not looking for part-time devotion or surface-level belief; He desires obedience from the heart.

Lukewarm faith is dangerous because it feels safe. It convinces us we’re fine when we’re actually compromised. Wanting the benefits of Jesus while still clinging to the world leads to spiritual confusion. The world’s values and God’s will often contradict each other, and choosing both means truly choosing neither.

Grace does not mean permission to live however we want. Grace is God’s power to change us. A heart that truly belongs to Christ will desire to obey Him, not perfectly, but sincerely. When we fall, we repent. When God convicts, we respond. Faith that doesn’t shape our lifestyle is not living faith.

Examine Your Heart
Does my lifestyle reflect obedience to God’s Word?
Am I resisting sin or just justifying it?
Do I seek God’s will, or only His blessings?
Am I willing to let go of worldly habits that pull me away from Him?

God isn’t asking for perfection. He’s asking for commitment. He wants your whole heart, not a divided one.

Prayer:
Lord, search my heart and reveal anything in me that doesn’t align with Your will. I don’t want a lukewarm faith or a divided heart. Teach me to obey You, not just with my words, but with my life. Help me to let go of the world and fully follow You. I choose You, fully and sincerely. Amen.

Devotional: Lessons from Job (Chapters 1–16)
I encourage you read these chapters in your own time.🤍

Have you ever suffered so deeply that it felt like the whole world was against you? Lost people you loved, worked tirelessly but saw no results, faced financial struggles, or felt your dreams slipping away? You prayed, hoped, and waited but slowly, doubt began to creep in, and your faith started to fade. If that’s you today, remember Job.

Job was a righteous man, blameless and upright, yet he lost everything, his wealth, his children, his health. God allowed satan to test Job. He faced suffering he didn’t deserve. And yet, through it all, he didn’t curse God. Job’s story reminds us that faith is tested in the fire, not just in times of comfort.

Sometimes, God allows us to be broken, not to harm us, but to refine our hearts, remove what holds us back, and prepare us for blessings we cannot yet see. You may lose people, face financial struggles, or see your dreams delayed... Not as punishment, but as part of a process that teaches patience, dependence, and trust in God’s timing.

For example, some people in your life: parents, family, friends etc. Might not be part of your ultimate destination, but they are part of your process. To get to where God is taking you, sometimes you have to let go, lose, or move on. Remember: God’s plans are only for you, not for your children, family, or business etc. On the journey, you will experience both loss and gain, pain and joy, endings and new beginnings... All orchestrated to shape you into exactly who He created you to be.

So when life feels unfair and suffering hits, don’t blame God, don’t get angry, and don’t give up on yourself. Instead, pause, trust Him, and hold on. Let the pain refine you, not harden you. Keep your faith, keep your hope, and remember: God is still working behind the scenes, even when you can’t see it.

Reflection Questions:
- In what areas of your life are you struggling to trust God?
- What losses or challenges might be part of God shaping you for a greater purpose?
- How can Job’s example of faith encourage you today?

Prayer:
“Lord, help me to trust You even when I don’t understand my suffering. Teach me patience, strengthen my faith, and help me see that You are shaping me for Your purpose. Let my trials refine me, not break me. Amen.”

It’s been a challenging year — more stormy seas than calm waters. There have been moments when hope felt distant, when burdens weighed heavy, and when I questioned if I could endure one more day.

Yet through it all, one thing remains firm: In God we trust.

He has been my anchor when waves crashed.
He has been my light in the darkest nights.
He has reminded me that I am never alone, even when life whispers otherwise.

Reflections from this season:

♡ I learned that faith doesn’t mean the absence of fear — it means walking through fear with God’s hand in mine.

♡I discovered strength I didn’t know I had, poured out in moments of surrender and prayer.

♡ I saw little miracles — divine doors opening, unexpected grace, fierce, quiet love when I was weakest.

To anyone reading this:
If you’re battered by life today, don’t lose heart.
Hold fast. Lean into Him. You may not see the full picture yet, but He is weaving something beautiful behind the scenes.

Prayer / Declaration:
Father, in You I place my trust. You are my refuge, my fortress, my strength.
When I can’t see the path, guide me.
When I am weary, renew me.
When doubt creeps in, remind me that You are faithful.
In every trial, I believe You are working — for my good, in Your perfect timing.
