THIS SOUTH AFRICAN DOCTOR TREATS PATIENTS REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY CAN PAY

Dr. Paulo de Valdoleiros is a real South African doctor known for his compassionate “Walk-In Doctor” model in Bloemfontein.

He opened the Walk-In Doctor clinic in Westdene, Bloemfontein in June 2019. Patients could walk in without appointments, receive consultations, examinations, and medication, then pay whatever they could afford (even as little as R10 or nothing). No one was turned away.

He enrolled in medical school at the University of the Free State around age 45, graduated at 51, and pursued this path out of a lifelong dream and desire to serve, especially after seeing people turned away from overburdened public hospitals.
