COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING ASSISTANT VACANCY

Small Projects Foundation is currently seeking a Communications and Marketing Assistant reporting to the CEO who
will be appointed to enhance the Chief Executive Officer’s (CEO) effectiveness by providing information, communications, marketing and management support.

The assistant position will be required to be aware of the CEO’s strategic goals and objectives. Fundamental requirements of the this role include the ability to prioritise and be well organised, the ability to remain calm under pressure and the ability to remain focused. The communications and marketing assistant has to cope with an ever-shifting set of priorities; therefore, flexibility, adaptability and change responsiveness are essential attributes for this role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Assist in generating communications content on all social media platforms
• Assist in collecting data and information and in organising/drafting project management reports;
• Provide project administrative and logistical support;
• Provide reports and assistance to the Chief Executive Officer on financial and administrative issues;
• Manage project assets;
• Provide administrative support for project related procurement;
• Provide secretariat support to the Chief Executive Officer, including compiling timely minutes of meetings;
• Responsible for logistical arrangements and preparation of the project activities;
• Organise and coordinate relevant project training materials as required;
• Coordinate the distribution of materials and supplies to the project field teams;
• Assist in managing various project databases;
• Assist in the planning and implementation of special events, including but not limited to flights, accommodation, venues, catering etc.;
• Prepare and maintain proper filing system for all project related documents;
• Managing communication and social media;
• Any other duties of similar nature as required by the CEO.

JOB SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
• Grade 12;
• Post-matriculation diploma/degree or equivalent.
Level of Experience
• 2 years’ work experience in project/ office / business administration is essential;
• Hands-on experience with communications, social media and marketing
• Hands-on experience on project administration, inclusively on activity planning, reporting, progress monitoring, result evaluation;
• Communication & social media experience;
• Excellent language proficiency in English and isiXhosa
• Fully computer literate – internet, e-mail, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Essential
• Valid driving licence, and 2 years daily driving experience;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Efficient personal organisational skills, including time management and ability to meet deadlines;
• Ability to take initiative and take decisions at appropriate level;
• Accuracy, honesty and openness;
• Mature and disciplined approach to work;
• Passion for the well-being of others.

Small Projects Foundation's Umbono Eyecare Programme is recruiting an Optometrist who will report directly to the CEO. This position is based in Buffalo City Metro Municipality (BCMM) District.

Key Accountabilities:
• Provide rewarding services to the community
• Conduct eye screenings and diagnoses
• Make referrals as necessary

Job Specifications:
• Grade 12 senior certificate
• Diploma or degree in Optometry
• 1-year industry experience
• Commencement date 5 January 2026

Essential Requirements:
• Valid driver's license with driving experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong MS Office skills and computer literacy
• Strong team management skills
• Willingness to serve communities through fieldwork
