Together with Simon Ekin, I’m excited to invite you to our GentleMen - Moms and Sons Workshop on 11 December—a space where we’ll explore how to nurture compassion, accountability, and respect in young men with the burdens that so many single mothers have to carry. We are pursuing a culture of more people coming forward and asking for the help they need, with more sponsors who are also coming forward to sponsor mothers and sons.

Sometimes, especially when we are prejudiced or hurt, it can be difficult to hear or see clearly. As a believer, I try to always look up and not back, knowing where my strength comes from.

Remember this: “Without the depths, I do not have the heights.” ~ Carl Jung, The Red Book.

"Dear Village,

I have been supporting a family with three children for ten years now. The oldest just finished matric, really exceeded all expectations, and developed into a top achiever in his low performing townships school. Him and his friends organised extra tutorials on Saturdays and Sundays (he worked 7 days a week with enthusiasm up to the early hours of the mornings). See his results attached of the September exams. It is really incredible, considering he started off with code 2s, 3s, and 4s in primary school. He has now been accepted to study pharmacy at Rhodes University. His smartphone is at its last, and he needs one to keep contact with family when in Makhanda /Grahamstown and to help him with his school work. He doesn't have a laptop at the moment as well. If someone were blessed with a smartphone upgrade, please consider donating your old phone to this very disciplined, deserving young man. If someone has an old laptop to donate, it would also be highly appreciated. I assist the family where I can, but as I work for a NGO with a government subsidy that will be severely cut from April first, I cannot assist with the above at the moment..."
