KEANU ons Superkind / #Cure4Keanu

Keanu Moore van de Giessen, a 7-year-old boy from Brackenfell, was diagnosed with Stage 4, Neuroblastoma cancer in October 2017. His bone marrow showed a 65% infiltration of Neuroblastoma cells and doctors immediately started with chemotherapy. In addition to chemotherapy, one of the newest forms of treatment is Immunotherapy, which uses medicines to help a patient’s own immune system fight cancer

. The campaign was aimed at raising funds to allow Keanu to travel overseas to have Immunotherapy and give him a fighting chance. Keanu had his Immunotherapy in Spain thanks to the generous help of many wonderful people and he has completed ground-breaking maintenance therapy for which he occasionally needed to fly to the USA. We are so proud that Keanu is the FIRST child in South Africa to have done these treatments, DFMO and Anti-GD2 HU3F, and has now opened a path for other children like him to now receive this treatment from Dr. Giselle Scholler and Dr. Jaume Mora. We are so proud that through Keanu's mommy's non-stop research that we could introduce Dr. Jaume Mora and Dr. Scholler to others in South Africa and now our kids are being referred to their treatment.��

is also about raising awareness of Childhood Cancer and to advocate for better treatments for children in South Africa. We are so proud that we have implemented a new pathway, which now seems to be adapted by other institutions....sadly forgetting that Cure4Keanu has fought so hard for this ground-breaking treatment, but the most important for us is that there are options now and the possibility to save more lives!
