EQuivalence Experience Equine Connection Our primary focus is on children of various backgrounds, abilities, and special
needs.

Through offering individualised lessons, sourcing funding from donors and
networking with other PBOs, we can increase opportunities to offer much needed
Equine Assisted Services modalities to the less fortunate, including the farm
community on Altydgedacht, as well as surrounding community schools.

🌟 Through meaningful interactions and equine-assisted experiences, participants have engaged in journeys of healing, reflection, and personal growth. These sessions have created opportunities for staff to reconnect with themselves, gain valuable insights, strengthen resilience, and feel empowered in both their personal and professional lives.

🫶We are grateful to witness the transformative impact of these experiences and to support the wellbeing of those who work tirelessly to care for and uplift children in their communities.

To the ones who hold space for others...

The teachers, social workers, therapists, caregivers, nurses, child and youth care workers, community leaders, parents, and helping professionals.

The ones who listen, support, guide, comfort, encourage, and carry the weight of countless stories.

You are often the calm presence in someone else’s storm.

But even those who regulate, reassure, and support others need co-regulation too.

You were never meant to carry everything alone.

Being strong does not mean being unaffected.
Being capable does not mean being endlessly available.
Holding space for others does not mean you don’t need a safe space of your own.

Co-regulation reminds us that healing, resilience, and emotional wellbeing happen in connection. We all need moments where we can set down the emotional load, reconnect with ourselves, and be supported by others.

If your role is to care for people, your wellbeing matters too.

Because the people who care for others deserve care themselves.

As we reflect on the week gone by and scroll through the photos on our phones, we are reminded of the many beautiful opportunities we’ve had to give back through EQuivalence this past week. What a privilege it has been!

From spending time with the adults in our Healing Hooves caregiving program, to our Saturday HOPE program focused on the children in our farm community, and even sharing a little love (and food!) with the farm dogs that faithfully greet everyone — each moment has been a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big impact.

Our hearts are full of gratitude for the people, animals, and community that make this journey so meaningful. 💛

Be sure to recognise those moments in this coming week to give back to those around you!

Silent remembering… 🤍

I woke up today with my heart slightly heavier than normal. A year ago today, we said farewell to our beloved Bravo.

The thing about losing an animal is that you grieve for them quietly. For most people around you, it was “just an animal” — one that, in time, can be replaced by another. But even though time moves on and new herd members are added, that specific soul is still deeply missed.

When humans pass, there are so many “firsts” that feel unbearably hard, and you have your human herd to help carry you through them. With animals, it feels different. When you speak about the loss, you often get an “ah shame,” and then the conversation moves elsewhere. So the sadness becomes silent. Tears fall in quiet moments no one sees.

Bravo was the kind of horse you could simply be with. You could breathe into his neck and hold him, and he would stand there patiently until you were ready to let go. Even then, he would hold that moment with you until he sensed it was okay to move on.

His spirit still lives on in moments shared with the other herd members, and in the memories spoken between those who truly knew him.

Today I sit in the paddock with his herd, knowing that some of them miss him too. Humans often underestimate the bonds animals form, believing they only live in the moment. Yes, they are present-centered, but they carry long memories and treasure the friendships they’ve had.

To everyone missing a dog, a bird, a horse… any animal… you are allowed to grieve. Create small rituals and quiet ways to honor them, because they existed. The bonds were real. The love was real.

Carry their memory forward. Their spirit lives on as long as they are remembered. 🤍
