CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO THE PREMIER OF KWAZULU-NATAL, HONOURABLE THAMI NTULI, AND CONDEMNATION OF VIOLENCE IN THE KZN LEGISLATURE
Immediate Release|15 December 2025
The IFP National Professionals extend their heartfelt congratulations to the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Honourable Thami Ntuli, on his successful defeat of the vote of no confidence brought against him by the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party within the Government of Provincial Unity.
This outcome affirms the confidence placed in Premier Ntuli’s leadership, integrity, and commitment to principled governance. As the Chairperson of the Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu-Natal, Premier Ntuli continues to embody the values of unity, discipline, and service that define our movement. We are proud of the Inkatha Freedom Party for standing together, remaining resolute, and protecting one of our own in the face of political opportunism.
The IFP National Professionals also wish to express their sincere appreciation to the President of the Inkatha Freedom Party, Honourable Velenkosini Hlabisa, for his steadfast leadership, integrity, and selfless commitment to the organisation and the people of South Africa. His principled guidance continues to anchor the IFP in unity, discipline, and ethical leadership, especially during challenging political moments. Under his leadership, the IFP remains a trusted and credible force for good governance, stability, and service to the nation.
The IFP National Professionals further commend the IFP leadership and caucus for their maturity and cohesion, which ensured stability and continuity in the governance of our province at a critical time. This victory is not only personal to the Premier but represents a triumph for accountable leadership and democratic processes.
At the same time, we unequivocally condemn the violence and disruptive conduct displayed by members of the uMkhonto WeSizwe Party in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, particularly the aggression directed towards the Speaker of the Legislature. Such behaviour has no place in a democratic institution and undermines the rule of law, respect for authority, and the dignity of the Legislature.
We call on all political parties to uphold the highest standards of conduct, respect constitutional processes, and resolve differences through peaceful and lawful means. Democracy thrives on debate, not intimidation; on respect, not disorder.
Once again, we congratulate Premier Thami Ntuli on this decisive outcome and reaffirm our full support for his leadership as he continues to serve the people of KwaZulu-Natal with dedication and purpose.
