YouThrive Careers is Zoë-Life’s career guidance and counselling programme for high school learners and young people who have not yet found their career pathway.

South Africa’s youth unemployment rate sits at an alarming 46%. For many young people, the challenge starts long before they enter the job market. They have never been given the opportunity to explore their strengths, understand their options, or see what is possible for their future.

Through career assessments, mentorship, and guided career exploration, YouThrive Careers helps young people build confidence, make informed subject and career choices, and take meaningful steps toward employment and economic participation.

Meet Olwethu Sosibo, Electronic Engineering student, mentor, and youth leader passionate about helping young people discover their potential through STEM.

After facing rejection from her dream of studying medicine, Olwethu used the experience as an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. Through the YouThrive Career Guidance Programme, she discovered a passion for engineering and technology — a journey that has now led her to mentoring and inspiring other young people, especially girls, to pursue careers in STEM.

Today, she proudly uses her voice, leadership, and experience to encourage learners to believe in themselves and dream beyond limitations.

Olwethu will be sharing her inspiring story on SABC 2’s Our Space during Africa Month.
