This week at our ECD we showed off our skills in painting all dressed up for inspiration as we painted and had fun.

We learnt writing on our mini chalk boards and had a wonderful time as we played with puzzles, piecing together the Big five as well as numbers from 1-10.

We also continued with writing our names as we are slowly getting there...

We then had Career Day, where learners were educated about each career field and how they help us in our community.. learners are aware that they need to work hard to achieve these goals..

We were blessed with treats from our Principal as we had a wonderful picnic and enjoyed ourselves

A big thank you to all parents as we truly appreciate your efforts for today as learners really enjoyed today's event..

Wishing all our parents and learners a happy and blessed weekend as we shall see all our learners back on Monday ready for another fun filled week

Child Protection Week Event at Orient Hill Primary School
29 May 206

Orient Hill Primary School proudly hosted a successful Child Protection Week event aimed at educating learners about their rights, safety, and wellbeing. The programme created awareness about the importance of protecting children and ensuring that every child feels safe both at school and within the community.

During the event, learners were given the opportunity to participate by delivering speeches on child protection and ways to keep children safe. The learners spoke confidently and shared valuable messages about respect, reporting abuse, bullying prevention, and the importance of speaking up when facing danger or harm. Their participation showed great courage, understanding, and leadership.

The school was also honoured to welcome special guests from the South African Police Service (SAPS). The SAPS officers addressed the learners and spoke about child safety, personal responsibility, and how children can protect themselves in different situations. They encouraged learners to report any form of abuse or unsafe behaviour to trusted adults and reminded them that the police are there to help and protect them.

The event was informative, engaging, and meaningful for both learners and staff. It reinforced the importance of working together as a school and community to protect children and promote a safe environment for all.
Dare the difference and the difference will deliver.

Our Career Day was absolutely amazing! The children dressed up as the professionals and leaders they dream of becoming one day a beautiful picture of vision, purpose, and a great future ahead. The excitement, creativity, and confidence displayed by every child was inspiring to see.
A special thank you to our wonderful principal for spoiling the learners with snacks and adding so much joy to the day. It was truly a memorable, fun-filled occasion filled with laughter, dreams, and hope for the future.
We believe these young minds are tomorrow’s doctors, teachers, pilots, entrepreneurs, scientists, leaders, and world changers. What a wonderful day! Our teacher go the extra mile. They are amazing. Dare the difference and the difference will deliver

Everyone talks about mental health until they meet someone whose depression is no longer “easy” to be around.

People love sharing quotes about checking on others,
but disappear when someone actually needs consistent support.

Because real depression is not always motivational speeches and recovery posts.

Sometimes it is:
✍️Canceling plans because getting out of bed feels impossible
✍️Ignoring calls because your mind is exhausted
✍️Smiling in public and breaking down in private
✍️Losing interest in everything you once loved
✍️Feeling emotionally numb around people you care about
✍️Wanting support, but feeling guilty for needing it

The sad reality is that many people only love the healed, happy, productive, and entertaining version of others.

The moment your pain becomes “too much,”
the distancing begins.

Suddenly you are called:
“Negative.”
“Too sensitive.”
“Too draining.”
“A burden.”

People say “reach out,”
but become uncomfortable when you actually do.

We need to stop romanticizing mental health awareness while avoiding the reality of emotional suffering.

Because healing is not always pretty.
Struggling people are not always easy to understand.
And sometimes the strongest form of support is simply staying, listening, and not abandoning someone when they are at their lowest.

The silence people receive during their darkest moments changes them forever.

Sometimes, the biggest heartbreak is discovering who only loved the version of you that was easy to handle.

On the 14th of May 2026 Jems Foundation conducted a program at New Forest High School focusing on the impact of bullying and the ways learners can deal with bullying in schools and communities. The purpose of the program was to create awareness about bullying, educate learners about the emotional and psychological effects of bullying, and encourage positive behaviour among peers.

During the session, different forms of bullying were discussed, including physical bullying, verbal bullying, social exclusion, and cyberbullying. Learners were given an opportunity to share their understanding and experiences related to bullying. The discussion highlighted how bullying can negatively affect a learner’s self-esteem, academic performance, mental health, and social relationships.

The program also focused on healthy and effective ways of dealing with bullying. Learners were encouraged to report bullying to trusted adults such as teachers, parents, social workers, or school counsellors. They were also taught the importance of standing up against bullying, supporting victims, and promoting kindness and respect among one another. Practical coping strategies such as communication, seeking support, and conflict resolution were also discussed.

The session was interactive and educational, and learners actively participated throughout the program. The overall objective of the program was achieved as learners gained knowledge about the consequences of bullying and the importance of creating a safe and supportive school environment.
