Mayibuyi Youth Organization

On the 24th of May 2026, energy and solidarity filled the streets as we successfully hosted the Peace In Africa half marathon! We were absolutely blown away to see an incredible crowd of over 3,000 participants from all walks of life running together for a shared purpose.

We were deeply honored to have Professor Dasarath Chetty (CEO of DC-Communications and National President of the Child Welfare Organisation) join us as our official Guest of Honour. Professor Chetty expressed immense joy at seeing such a beautifully diverse representation of communities and races coming together to actively foster peace and social cohesion through sport.

He lent his support to our athletes by officially handing over medals and presenting the awards during the prize-giving ceremony to all our category winners.

Our founder, Siviwe Benya, recently caught up with business icon and CEO of Edison Power Group, Mr. Vivian Reddy, at the Durban ICC.

This wasn’t their first meeting! Back in 2015, Siviwe invited Mr. Reddy to be the Guest of Honour at our youth gathering at the Phoenix Youth Centre. He attended and shared invaluable words of wisdom on what it takes to succeed in life.

It was truly special to reconnect—Mr. Reddy was inspired to see that after 12 years, the Mayibuyi Youth Organisation is still active, growing, and serving the community. We are looking forward to further discussions on how we can work together to uplift our society even more. 🌍🇿🇦

On the 6th of June, the Mayibuyi Youth Organisation was honored to be invited to the Durban ICC as a key stakeholder. We joined other civic organisations and the liberation movement to tackle the heavy challenges facing our communities, specifically focusing on solutions for crime and poverty.

It was a powerful day of debate and dialogue. This gathering gave us a vital opportunity to connect with other community leaders and stakeholders who are just as committed as we are to seeing KwaZulu-Natal thrive.

On June 6, 2026, the Mayibuyi Youth Organisation joined civic groups at ICC Durban for a vital stakeholder dialogue focused on creating community-led solutions for crime and poverty in KZN.

On June 3rd, Mayibuyi Youth Organisation officially signed an affiliation agreement with the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) based in Seoul, South Korea.

IPYG’s General Director, Mr. Young Min Chung, was represented here on the ground by Mr. Sphesihle Mdlalose. Our Chairperson, Mr. Siviwe Benya, met up with Mr. Mdlalose on Florida Road to exchange the documents and seal this exciting partnership.

We look forward to collaborating with IPYG to empower our local youth and drive peace initiatives forward.
