Where Do Refugees Come From is a past project by Citizen of the World. The project visions were:
- To promote refugee & migrant rights through sustainable community solutions in the countries in which they seek refuge & help elevate problems within their countries of origin to reduce certain stressors which may contribute to their need to flee.
- To understand the reasons people are forced to flee
their own countries, what their experiences are when they arrive in a new ‘safe’ country, and what can be done at a grassroots level to improve their situations.
- To network with refugee based organizations in various countries, engage with individuals on what the true problems and needs of the community are and explore ways in which we can establish projects within the community through our organization and partnerships.
- To educate communities about refugees, eco-justice and important social issues relevant to these areas
- To reduce root causes of xenophobia through culture exchange
- To create a network of youths to collaborate on solutions and share experiences and knowledge
- Ultimately we want to make the world a more liveable place for everyone, regardless of where they come from or why they end up where they are. This means providing people the right and means to work, food security, and a safe, healthy and accepting environment in which to rebuild their lives.

We want to use this page to raise awareness of current refugee situations around the world, share the various issues faced by refugees on the ground, and provide a forum for discussion of problems, conflicts and solutions.
