We exist to foster trust, participation, and shared responsibility among the local community, stakeholders, and the conservation mission of Friends of Burman Bush.
The purpose is to strengthen the long-term protection and stewardship of the Burman Bush Nature Reserve.
This role ensures that conservation efforts are community-led, inclusive, informed and sustainable
Friends of Burman Bush serve as the bridge between people and nature.
Our role is to translate conservation goals into clear, accessible, and meaningful community action, while ensuring that local voices are heard, valued, and represented with respect.
We believe in Community Relationship Building
To Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, schools, faith groups, NGOs, and local businesses.
That encourage a sense of shared ownership and pride in Burman Bush.
Address concerns, misunderstandings, and conflicts early through open dialogue and education.
We believe in Education & Awareness
That Promote understanding of the importance of protecting Burman Bush.
Sharing knowledge of Local biodiversity and cultural heritage.
Promoting Responsible behaviour in and around the reserve.
Supporting environmental education initiatives, guided walks, talks, and workshops.
We set up Volunteers & Participation Coordination
We encourage community involvement through volunteering (clean-ups, alien plant removal, events, monitoring).
Support volunteer onboarding, clarify roles, and uphold ethical standards.
Help nurture a safe, respectful, and inclusive volunteer environment.
Ensuring Communication & Representation
Act as a trusted link between Friends of Burman Bush, the community, and external stakeholders by setting the ground to form a PAAC
Assist with public communication, gather feedback, and share community updates.
Represent community perspectives in internal planning and discussions where appropriate and invited
