Her title might say Executive Director.
It doesn't tell you about the staff looking to her for direction, the funding decision that affects a programme, the board meeting she is preparing for or the community depending on the organisation to deliver.
Her title might say Finance Manager.
It doesn't tell you about the reporting deadline that cannot move, the supporting document she is tracking down, the payroll that needs to run or the funding conditions she needs to keep straight.
Administrator. Fundraiser. Trustee. Programme Manager.
Every title describes a role. None of them fully describes what it takes to carry it.
