TPCSA’s Director of Audit and Reporting, Farida Lavangee, recently joined the State of Fundraising in South Africa panel at the IFC Cape Town Pop-Up.

It was a valuable opportunity to be part of a wider conversation about fundraising in South Africa. Thank you to the organisers, fellow panellists and everyone who took part.

Her title might say Executive Director.

It doesn't tell you about the staff looking to her for direction, the funding decision that affects a programme, the board meeting she is preparing for or the community depending on the organisation to deliver.

Her title might say Finance Manager.

It doesn't tell you about the reporting deadline that cannot move, the supporting document she is tracking down, the payroll that needs to run or the funding conditions she needs to keep straight.

Administrator. Fundraiser. Trustee. Programme Manager.

Every title describes a role. None of them fully describes what it takes to carry it.

This Women's Day, TPCSA recognises the women who lead, manage, organise, question, solve, support and keep organisations moving forward every day.

We’re proud to share that Farida Lavangee, Director: Audit & Reporting at Turning Point Chartered Accountants, will be speaking as the accounting and compliance expert on a panel at the 2026 IFC Cape Town Pop-Up.

The State of Fundraising in South Africa: Trends, Compliance and What’s Coming will explore the connection between fundraising, accounting and compliance in South Africa’s NPO sector.

Fundraising is not only about finding donors. NPOs must also be able to demonstrate sound financial management, meet their compliance responsibilities and clearly account for how funding is used.

Farida will help attendees understand how financial readiness can strengthen donor confidence, support funding opportunities and reveal areas their organisations may be overlooking.

This is one of several sessions forming part of a broader programme featuring local and international fundraising and nonprofit-sector professionals.

Three cities. One shared purpose.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town for our 2026 NPO Workshop series.

These workshops created space for honest conversations around the real challenges NPOs face — from compliance and reporting to VAT, S18A, IT3(d), funding readiness and sustainable growth.

To every attendee, speaker, partner and organisation that formed part of the journey: thank you for showing up, engaging and being part of the conversation. A special thank you goes to Synergei and Hoosain Ally for partnering with us throughout the series and for sharing valuable insight into fundraising, funding opportunities and the practical steps NPOs can take to strengthen their approach.

The workshop series may be complete, but the support continues.

Thank You Johannesburg! Our NPO workshop was a reminder of how important it is to create space for practical guidance, open conversation, and real support.
