Applications for the 2026 RMB Talent Unlocked Programme are open! 🎨

This year marks an exciting milestone: for the first time since RMB Talent Unlocked was established, the programme will have a host organisation in KwaZulu-Natal, with KZNSA Gallery joining the programme as the KZN host. The 2026 programme will run across KwaZulu-Natal and Johannesburg.

We are therefore especially encouraging emerging visual artists across KZN to take advantage of this opportunity and apply.

The programme supports artists aged 18–35 through:
✨ Studio space
✨ Mentorship and professional development
✨ Entrepreneurial capacity-building
✨ Access to arts-industry networks and opportunities

If you are a full-time practising visual artist in KZN and ready to take the next step in developing your practice and building a sustainable career in the arts, this opportunity is for you.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | SELLOANE MOETI | RMB Talent Unlocked Programme Applications

As we count down to the closing of applications for the 2026 RMB Talent Unlocked Programme, we’re spotlighting a KZN artist who has been part of the programme and the journeys they have continued to build.

Durban-based multidisciplinary artist Selloane Moeti works across painting and performance, exploring identity, memory, spirituality, healing and her lineage as a Mosotho woman born and raised in KwaZulu-Natal.

Selloane was awarded first prize at the 2019 KZNSA Members’ Exhibition and was later selected as one of 12 artists for the 2021 RMB Talent Unlocked Programme. Since then, she has continued to develop her practice, exhibiting locally and internationally and presenting her 2025 solo exhibition, 𝘚𝘪𝘻𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘬𝘢, 𝘚𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘸𝘰, at KZNSA Gallery.

Her journey speaks to the possibilities that can open up when emerging artists have access to mentorship, professional development, networks and opportunities to strengthen their practice.

This year is particularly significant for KZN: for the first time since RMB Talent Unlocked was established, the programme has a KwaZulu-Natal host through KZNSA Gallery. 🔥

So, KZN artists, this one is for you!

The RMB Talent Unlocked Programme is now open for applications!

Established in 2014, the programme has supported young creatives in building sustainable careers through mentorship, skills development, professional opportunities and access to the wider creative sector.

This year, we’re especially excited to be a host organisation for the programme, marking an important moment for KwaZulu-Natal. 🔥

For the first time since the programme’s inception, KwaZulu-Natal will have its own RMB Talent Unlocked host organisation through KZNSA Gallery, giving participating artists the opportunity to work alongside dedicated arts industry professionals.

This is an opportunity to become part of the next generation of artists shaping the future of the arts in KwaZulu-Natal, while contributing to the province’s place within South Africa’s wider arts ecosystem.

If you’re an emerging artist looking for support, guidance and opportunities to take your artistic career to the next level, this could be your next step!

Applications for the 2026 RMB Talent Unlocked Programme are now open.

Designed for full-time practising artists aged 18–35, this programme supports the development of sustainable artistic careers through mentorship, professional development and industry exposure.

Participants benefit from studio space, an intensive capacity-building programme, and guidance from experienced mentors, curators and arts professionals — plus opportunities to exhibit work and build meaningful connections within South Africa's art sector. 🤝

Meet the host organisations:
Artist Proof Studio(Johannesburg) — a community-centred arts organisation founded in 1991 and recognised as a leader in fine art printmaking. Accommodates: painting, drawing, printmaking.

Bag Factory Art in association with the Umhlabathi Collective Umhlabathi (Johannesburg) — a contemporary visual arts organisation with over three decades of experience supporting visual artists, partnered with Umhlabathi's photography-focused documentation of the Black lived experience in South Africa. Accommodates: sculpture, photography, painting.

KZNSA Gallery KZN Society of the Arts (Durban) — a contemporary art gallery and public arts centre dedicated to advancing visual art through exhibitions, education and community engagement. Accommodates: photography, painting, drawing.
