Our Non-profit organization, Namenyi Project Hope has been operating in South Africa since 2001. The Current Situation in South Africa:
This country has 7.9 million people (the highest number in the world) living with HIV/AIDS. Oddly enough, every day there are about 1,000 new HIV infections that still take place in this country. Since 2007, our charity delivers HIV/AIDS Awareness Programmes (whic
h have been combined with Covid-19 seminars since 2019) aimed at educating school children. All the schools that we are working at are in under-developed, poverty-torn communities, and many of the children are orphans. By investing in the education and development of learners from primary school-age upwards, we aspire to develop a generation of young South Africans who have the knowledge and skills needed to protect themselves from HIV infection and to make wise choices about their health & future. Construction of Buildings for Orphans:
As a result of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, there are 2.8 million orphans in South Africa who simply need to survive. In order to ensure that the orphans at the Khulani Kahle Children’s Home can grow up in a secure and safe environment - over the years - we had two dormitories built for them. Provision for Destitute Children:
Since 2005, we’ve been assisting the Khulani Kahle Children’s Home with regular, weekly food donations. Our commitment to the children here is still an on-going effort and has enabled us to provide top quality food to all the orphans, some of whom have since grown up & even left the orphanage having found jobs to support themselves. Donating Stationery Items:
Namenyi Project Hope has also been supporting access to education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and we source school supplies in order to distribute to needy institutions since 2006. In South Africa many students cannot afford to buy school equipment and this can often hinder their learning and progress. The particular schools we assist are located in economically disadvantaged areas with high unemployment, poverty & social difficulties, leaving them under-resourced and in desperate need of a sufficient supply of good quality stationery. Donation of Fruit Trees:
Ideally, we would like all rural schools that we come in contact with, to have their own orchards. Since 2018, through our Fruit Tree Planting Project, we deliver a variety of colorful, delicious, nutrient-rich options for schools – situated in disadvantaged communities. Crime Prevention Through Sports:
Our initiative of donating soccer-, rugby-, and basket-balls to disadvantaged communities offers an important opportunity for building life skills of at-risk youth that allow them to better cope with daily life challenges and move away from involvement in violence, crime or drug use. At Namenyi Project Hope, we actively try and keep the administration and running costs for all our operations to the minimum. We do this in many ways, but by the far the most effective is our use of all things voluntary. This allows us to keep our overheads right down which in turn ultimately allows the funds that are raised to be used for the tasks they were intended. We would like to thank you for considering to contribute to our projects which we believe can really change the lives of destitute children & have a profound and positive, far-reaching effect.
