INTRODUCTION
In the years 1763 to 1775 were born the Trinity of Carnatic Music Shyama Sastri (1763-1827), Thyagaraja Swami (1767-1847), and Sri Muthuswami Deeksh*tar (1775-1835). The compositions of the Trinity are noteworthy for both music and word content. The overwhelming variety of compositions present ragams in tangible, authentic format. Since then, the compositions of these saint composers

largely dominated Carnatic music recitals. THEY were the architects of the Golden Age of Carnatic music. Suffice it to say that Carnatic music owes its stupendous development to the Trinity. MUSIC TRINITY ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH AFRICA (MTASA) was founded by Isai Selvamani V Karthiegasen Pillay, disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Madurai Sri TN Seshagopalan and the Late Tanjore S Kalyanaraman, to especially promote and preserve the art and culture of Carnatic Classical music in South Africa.
