Youth Month Programme at Ottawa Clinic
Today, Ottawa Clinic hosted a successful Youth Month Programme, bringing together various stakeholders committed to youth development and empowerment. The Gugu Dlamini Foundation was proud to participate as one of the supporting stakeholders.
Recognising the importance of Youth Month, the eThekwini Health Unit mobilised government departments, community organisations, and local partners to provide young people with access to career guidance, educational opportunities, life skills, and motivational support. The programme aimed to encourage youth to make informed decisions, seize available opportunities, and contribute positively to their communities.
The event featured presentations on a range of important topics, including bullying and self-esteem, behaviour, rights and responsibilities, reporting crime and sexual abuse, road safety, community involvement, GBVF prevention, youth mentorship, volunteerism, HIV prevention, financial literacy, and the role of Community Policing Youth Desks.
Presenting stakeholders included the Social and Community Development Directorate, Child Welfare, SAPS, Metro Police, Safer Cities, Gugu Dlamini Foundation/NICDAM, SAMRC, Old Mutual, and Community Policing Forums.
A highlight of the programme was the participation of Tradeport, which shared valuable employment and development opportunities available to young people, further encouraging youth to pursue pathways that can improve their future prospects.
The programme demonstrated the value of collaborative partnerships in empowering young people with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to build a brighter future.
