Strengthening the Children’s Sector is essential to ensuring that the voices, rights, and needs of our children and adolescents remain at the centre of the HIV response.

As we move toward South Africa’s 2025 World AIDS Day theme, *“Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response”*, this workshop was a powerful step toward revitalising the Children’s Sector within the district — building stronger collaboration, improved coordination, and a unified commitment to child-centred HIV services.

The KZN Provincial Children’s Sector extends heartfelt gratitude to Sheena, Dr Neel, Ms Hooper, CHIVA Africa, the uMzinyathi District AIDS Council, Civil Society, and all partners, leaders, and community structures who continue to champion a safer, healthier future for children in uMzinyathi and beyond.

Children enjoyed a jumping castle, colouring books, face painting, and an exciting Human Rights Quiz — blending play with powerful lessons on love, equality, and inclusion. 💖✊🏽🖍️🏰

Justice for Athabile Peace Walk

The Children’s Sector, in partnership with the Women’s Sector, local schools, and community members, united in a powerful demonstration demanding justice and protection for our children.

A formal memorandum was handed over to the SAPS, who also participated in the event — a crucial move toward holding authorities accountable and seeking justice for Athabile Mthembu.

🗞️ Our voices were further amplified through an interview with Isolezwe Newspaper, bringing greater visibility to our cause and strengthening the call for change.
