Happy National Women's Day 💛🇿🇦
On this day in 1956, more than 20,000 South African
women marched to the Union Buildings, standing
together against injustice with nothing but their
voices and their courage.
Wathint'Abafazi Wathint'imbokodo.
You strike a woman, you strike a rock.
That same strength lives on today in the mothers
who stretch a meal to feed everyone else first.
In the grandmothers raising a second generation
with quiet resolve.
In the volunteers who pack hampers with their own
hands, week after week.
In the women leading this movement and the ones
doing the work no one sees.
Jyoti Jivanam would not exist without the South
African women who built it, run it and carry it
forward every single day.
Today we honour you. Not with words alone, but
with a promise to keep showing up the way you
have taught us to. 🙏
Happy National Women's Day to every woman who
is, and always will be, a rock.
