BACKGROUND
The society in townships and rural areas has a mentality of living for the present moment. Many opt to think that tomorrow will take care of itself, or use the saying, “we will cross the bridge when we get there.” The rate of illiteracy is sky high, but people want “good jobs.” Youngsters who perform well in sport believe that they should use it as a second option to success, over educ
ation. Today’s African among many that show how unfriendly Africans are to education. These are the core concerns that saw the establishment of AFRICAN YOUTH LEADERS. PURPOSE AND VISION OF THE ORGANIZATION
AFRICAN YOUTH LEADERS serves the purpose to promote a positive lifestyle and good leadership in the society. VISION
We foresee the African community exploring within their imagination, free from submission due to fear of the unknown, doubt and hopelessness. MISSION

OBJECTIVES
1. To empower and develop the youth in communities with life skills and training
2. To promote self-awareness and social awareness
3. To provide local youth with basic computer skills
4. To assist the community with projects and local events
5. To work with other organizations in developing the communities
6. To work hand in hand with various government departments in promoting education, sports, career guidance and a healthy social lifestyle
SERVICES
• SKILLS TRAINING SECTOR
This sector provides Life Skills, Leadership Skills, Career Guidance, HIV/AIDS awareness programmes and Basic Computer Training to the community
• ACADEMIC SECTOR
Here we have activities like The Bookworm (reading), Peer Education (volunteers assisting learners with assignments, homework and school subject performance)
• YOUTH SECTOR
This sector will cater for the youth to have discussions in the form of conferences. The Youth sector will be the event coordinating body when AFRICAN YOUTH LEADERS organizes activities for the community
• SPORTS, ARTS, CULTURE AND RECREATION SECTOR
This sector comprises of a Sports Club (soccer, netball, cricket and rugby), Creative Movement (drama, music, poetry and fine arts) and a Health Club that will comprise of a gymnasium and physical activities
