I was honoured to share SI Durban's Youth Activate journey - From Seed to Significance: Nurturing Growth, Cultivating Legacy - SI Durban Vision 2050 at the Soroptimist International Africa Federation (SIAF) Conference, Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪

From one club at Avoca Secondary School, it has become a movement across 3 schools:

✨ Our model: Participation → Service → Leadership
✨ Our youth are identifying needs, building partnerships and leading projects - from environmental clean-ups, to health advocacy, to dignity drives, to our thriving school gardens where they Grow, Share, Sell & Reinvest.
✨ Where People & Planet meet - growing food, growing minds, growing futures.

These gardens are growing far more than vegetables - they are growing tomorrow's leaders.

So proud to showcase how we are Inspiring, Activating, Empowering and Creating Impact through our Youth.

It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of our beloved Past President Sally Currin, SI South Africa.

I had the honour and privilege of serving as Secretary under her Presidency for almost 3 terms. Sally was the epitome of humility, patience and grace - a true wealth of institutional knowledge who leaves behind an incredible legacy for all Soroptimists in South Africa - A truly profound loss to Soroptimism in South Africa.

SI Durban Executive & Members extend their heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.🌹🙏

She will always be remembered.😇

Dear Sisters

It is with great sadness that I share the news that our dear sister Sally Currin sadly passed away this morning.

She was diagnosed with an advanced incurable illness 2 years ago.

Sally will always be remembered for being a most loved and dedicated Soroptimist. A role model to so many of us in South Africa

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sally’s husband Brian and her dear family

Her book, “Lessons from Failure,” is a powerful and honest story of overcoming adversity and turning hardship into growth. 💪🌸
