Did you know that African Pygmy Hedgehogs have 5000 - 7000 spines?

Those spines aren't permanently sharp like needles, a hedgehog can rise & flatten their spines by using their muscles.

We know times can get tough and situations change — but please, never dump your pets. Whether it’s a hedgehog, tenrec, reptile, or bird, these little lives depend on us. They deserve safety, care, and kindness, not to be left to fend for themselves. 💚

Here at Hedgehog & Such Rescue Centre we do our very best to take in animals who need help. If you find yourself unable to keep your pet, reach out to us. We’ll do everything we can — and if we’re full or unable to take them ourselves, we’ll direct you to another trusted rescue who can. 🦔🦎🐦

Together, we can make sure every animal gets the second chance they deserve.

ADOPTED

Meet Hermes ✨️

This little guy was rescued from an abusive situation and we were asked to take him in. He is apparently very scared of humans but the person he is currently with has been working hard to gain his trust. He was also overweight but has lost quite a lot of it already.

Hermes will be joining us today 🙌
We don't know his exact age unfortunately, but what a precious boy he is ♥️

Please say it with me - Rabbits are not Easter gifts ( or gifts in general) they are a 11+ year commitment.

Do right by them, do better !

I think rabbits are probably one of the most neglected small pet there is, once the novelty wears off the often becomes forgotten.

If you want to gift someone a rabbit, there are a ton of stuffed rabbit teddies on the market 🙂

Daisy has been adopted and is currently being bonded with a neutered male.

So happy she found her forever after.

Ps: She will free roam, the cage is just for the bonding process to ensure she is safe as well as the male.

The story of Opal is not a new one, for years people have tried to get her released but unfortunately humans and their greed for money has kept her locked in a cage, all by herself.

If you know anything about Orangutans, then you would know they are a very social species who thrive with their own kind, not only is Opal alone in her cage, but she once knew what it was like to have her own little family.

Yes you read that right, Opal had a partner and they had a baby together, unfortunately both passed away leaving Opal alone.

Opal matters, her life matters!

OPAL

The world has been captivated by the story of Punch, the abandoned baby monkey who found comfort and safety with a stuffed toy orangutan that serves as his surrogate mother. Reports say that he has since been accepted by members of the troop, but this heart-wrenching story also reminds us of other primates held in unnatural, man-made prisons.

Opal is a primate who, like Punch, has a vast emotional capacity, advanced cognitive abilities, and complex social requirements. Opal has spent the majority of her life in solitary confinement, without even a stuffed animal for comfort.

If human beings across the globe can sympathize, empathize and rally together in support of Punch, can we not find the same energy to mobilize for Opal?

She may not be an abandoned baby, but in our opinion, an old lady who has spent her life behind bars, without companionship, far removed from her natural habitat and without even a tree to climb, is just as tragic.

Will you speak up for Opal the orangutan?
