The South Africa Under-19 (SA U19) Men’s selection panel has named a 15-player squad for the upcoming tour against England later this month.

Congratulations to Ntando Soni and Bandile Mbatha, both from the Class of 2024!
Here is the tour schedule:
• 3 Youth One-Day Internationals (YODIs): 30 June – 06 July
• 2 unofficial Test matches: 10 – 20 July (across England)

The Glenwood hockey brotherhood was privileged to welcome back Old Boy Lungani Gabela (Class of 2017), who spent time with the U14A, U16A, and 1st Team squads ahead of their Friday night clash against Westville Boys' High School.

Lungani shared valuable insight into what it truly means to be a Glenwood boy — reminding the players to embrace the journey, back themselves, and dream big. 🏑🔥

From representing SA Schools and playing in the PHL as a schoolboy, to the KZN Men’s setup, SA U21, and the SA Men’s Indoor team, Lungani’s journey is a powerful example of where hard work, passion, and brotherhood can lead.

Moments like these remind us that once a Glenwood boy, always a Glenwood boy. 💚

GLENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL APPOINTS RYAN YUNNIE AS COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS MANAGER

Glenwood High School is proud to announce the appointment of Ryan Yunnie as its new Commercial Operations Manager — a strategic appointment that brings decades of operational, retail, facilities management and leadership experience back into the heart of the Glenwood community.

A proud Glenwood Old Boy, Ryan attended Glenwood High School from 1989 to 1993, and his appointment reflects not only his extensive professional expertise, but also his deep-rooted passion and commitment to the school and its values. As a fourth-generation Glenwood family man, Ryan’s connection to the school runs far deeper than business — it is personal, generational and driven by genuine pride in the Glenwood ethos.

Ryan has already served the school with distinction in several important operational roles over the past number of years, including Estate Manager and Business Manager of Gibson House. During this time, he has overseen critical areas such as facilities management, security, transport logistics, maintenance, boarding operations, staff supervision, event coordination, branding and stakeholder relations.

His appointment to Commercial Operations Manager now expands his role in helping drive operational excellence, commercial growth and strategic development across the school.

Prior to his work at Glenwood, Ryan built an impressive career in retail and operations management, holding senior leadership positions with several prominent national companies.

Throughout his career, Ryan has successfully managed multi-million rand operations, large staff complements, regional business portfolios and major commercial projects. His expertise spans financial management, strategic planning, business development, customer relations, operational systems, merchandising, project management and people leadership.

Known for his hands-on leadership style, strong work ethic and ability to build relationships across all levels of an organisation, Ryan brings a unique combination of commercial insight and community-focused leadership to the role.

Speaking about his appointment, Ryan said he remains deeply committed to creating a positive and well-managed environment that supports both learners and staff while strengthening Glenwood’s long-term operational and commercial sustainability.

The Glenwood community warmly congratulates Ryan on his appointment and looks forward to the continued impact of his leadership, experience and unwavering dedication to the school.
