Last month, as xenophobic marches were culminating in the Durban CBD, we sat down with Norah β€” a 20-year-old American volunteer who found herself in the middle of a formative moment in South Africa’s long-standing migration struggle.

It was a heartwarming experience to hear a young mind offer thoughtful, honest and profound answers to genuinely challenging questions. Her words are a reminder that what happens here in Durban is not isolated. It is connected to decisions made far beyond our borders. πŸ’›

We wish Norah all the best in her studies and endeavors. We know your kind heart and brilliance will take you far.

Today marks Africa Day β€” the anniversary of the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in 1963, built on one idea: that Africa’s people are stronger together than apart.

One of the architects of that vision was Kwame Nkrumah. His words feel urgent right now, particularly here in KZN, where that vision of unity is being tested.

Swipe through to learn about the man, the movement, and why it still matters today. πŸ’›

With heavy hearts, we are announcing the postponement of our Africa Day Picnic. 🌍

This week, our organisation faced an unprecedented situation β€” thousands of people arrived at our offices from across KZN seeking shelter and protection.

Given the current climate of unrest, we made the difficult decision to postpone in order to keep our clients, our community, and our team safe.
We are so grateful to everyone who bought tickets, spread the word, and showed up for this vision. Your support means everything to us. 🀍

Tickets purchased via Quicket will be refunded. Please bear with us as we process this.

We are not giving up on this celebration β€” Africa Day will come to Durban. Watch this space for a new date. 🌍✊🏾

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE

Today, over 3,000 people came to our offices based on false information circulating in the community. We want to set the record straight.

❌ UNHCR is not conducting resettlement interviews at RSS.

❌ There is no list of 12 countries accepting refugees and
asylum seekers from South Africa.

Please do not travel to our offices. The RSS office will be closed to the public for the remainder of the week.

We hear you, and we see you. RSS is actively escalating concerns about safety, violence, and humanitarian needs to government departments, UN agencies, and protection bodies.

Please share this post widely and seek information only from official sources.

What began as paper, water, and empty bowls transformed into original works of art β€” layered with pattern and imagination.

We have now hosted our fourth art workshop with our female clients in preparation an upcoming art exhibition at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre In June.

Here, these sessions become more than creativity. It becomes a way to pause, to express, and to remember that transformation is always possible.

Healing is not always linear or polished. Sometimes it is messy hands, shared laughter, moving paintbrushes, and the quiet act of creating something beautiful together.
