You can choose to say: This is not okay.
You can choose to stand beside them. In times when division is trending in SA, let's make kindness trend instead . Which one will you be ? The one who whispers or the one who stands up?👇

Celebrating the incredible social workers who dedicate themselves to supporting, empowering and uplifting communities. ❤️

Yesterday, Refugees Social Services had the honour of attending the Women’s Day celebration at Addington Hospital, recognising and celebrating the valuable work of social workers and the difference they make in people’s lives.

It was a beautiful day of appreciation, connection and reflection — reminding us of the strength, compassion and resilience of the women who serve our communities every day.

Thank you to everyone who made this celebration meaningful. 🌸

FRAUD ALERT: UNHCR SERVICES ARE FREE OF CHARGE

UNHCR has received reports of suspected fraud involving a person who claims to have UNHCR connections and can assist refugees with UNHCR-related processes in exchange for money or other benefits.

Be careful of anyone who says they can submit or accelerate your case, arrange resettlement or voluntary repatriation, or use “contacts” to resolve documentation or other problems in exchange for payment.

Fraudsters may first build your trust. They may contact you on social media or approach you in a public place and call you brother or sister, claim to know UNHCR officials, or show you logos, photographs, documents or screenshots to appear legitimate.

UNHCR and UNHCR partner services are FREE OF CHARGE. Do not pay anyone who promises special access, faster processing or a guaranteed outcome.

Verify directly by calling UNHCR Helpline 0800 100 030, and you can report suspected fraud through [email protected]

Refugees and asylum seekers are part of our communities—and they contribute to them in meaningful ways.
Through small businesses, skills, services and everyday contributions, they play a role in strengthening our local economy and building more resilient communities.
When we support one another, we all grow stronger.
Let’s choose inclusion, dignity and unity.

The real refugee crisis is the failure to make peace.

Refugees flee war, conflict and persecution.

End the wars that force people to run for their lives.

Our team had the opportunity to attend an insightful workshop on Sexual Corruption and Abuse of Power, hosted by the Legal Resources Centre (LRC).
The workshop explored why, in some situations, sexual harassment may be better understood as sexual corruption, particularly where there is an abuse of power, authority or influence.

The discussions also focused on how perpetrators can be held accountable while ensuring that victims who were coerced into “consent” are not blamed or criminalised for the abuse they experienced.
It was a powerful and thought-provoking session that highlighted the importance of accountability, justice, dignity and protecting survivors.

📢 Childhood Statelessness in Southern Africa: From Silence to Solutions

Tomorrow, we join regional partners at the SADC Child Rights Advocacy Seminar 2026 ahead of the SADC Summit for a powerful film screening and facilitated dialogue on childhood statelessness across the region.

Together, we will confront the lived realities of children who remain without a recognised nationality, and move from reflection to action by shaping shared recommendations to ensure every child’s right to a nationality, identity, and sense of belonging.
