These efforts are often carried out by dedicated volunteers who generously give their time, skills and passion to protect the natural spaces, wildlife and ecosystems that sustain us all.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹. Through local action, collaboration and environmental stewardship, our members continue to play a vital role in safeguarding KwaZulu-Natal's natural heritage for future generations.

A proud moment worth celebrating.

Following her feature in KZN Conservancies' Autumn newsletter (page 12) - https://kznconservancies.org.za/kzn-conservancies-newsletter-autumn-2026/,- Dr Denise Ingrid Adams has now been awarded her PhD, marking a remarkable academic achievement shaped by decades of close engagement with Durban’s natural environment.

Her research, centred on the uMngeni Beachwood Mangrove Nature Reserve, highlights the ecological importance and evolving condition of this vital estuary system through a creative, practice-led approach.

The Cape Parrot is South Africa’s only endemic parrot species and is listed as Critically Endangered. These vibrant green beauties rely heavily on indigenous yellowwood forests - making their conservation more important than ever. 🌳✨
