Large project funding available 🌱🐾🌻🌳

The 2026 Call for Proposals under the Kunming Biodiversity Fund (KBF) is now open.

The fund supports projects that advance biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, policy integration, resource mobilization, and equitable benefit-sharing in line with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Project budgets can reach up to US$500,000 for single-country projects and US$800,000 for multi-country initiatives. Stage 1 applications are due 15 September 2026.

What can an eco-label really do?

A flag or label might look like a simple symbol. But behind it can be a much bigger story.

They’re more than flags and recognition, they’re tools for encouraging better coastal management, stronger partnerships, community involvement and tourism that values both people and nature.

Blue Flag brings a globally recognised standard to beaches, marinas and sustainable boating tourism, encouraging high standards for environmental management, safety, education and accessibility.

Green Coast takes a different approach, helping put lesser-known, biodiverse coastal areas on the tourism map while supporting community-led conservation and nature-based tourism.

Together, they demonstrate the power of sustainable tourism when recognition is backed by action.

In the 2025/2026 season, that commitment was reflected across our coastline:
🌿 15 Green Coast sites

🏖️ 49 Blue Flag beaches

🌱 20 Blue Flag pilot sites

⚓ 5 Blue Flag marinas

🚤 8 Blue Flag boats

The real value of an eco-label isn’t the flag itself, it’s what happens because we choose to fly it.

We look forward to celebrating that commitment with our Blue Flag and Green Coast celebration in October.

The Endangered Wildlife trust / International Crane Foundation are conducting a National Crane census this weekend from Friday to Monday. We need your help!! If you see any Wattled, Crowned or Blue cranes on your travels over this weekend, please send your sightings in via the methods below. If we monitor cranes on some of your
farms, please still send your sightings in. Any personal information will not be shared. We are trying to establish where the cranes are and estimated numbers. Your support would really be appreciated. Thank you.
